Recheck your stats ... Larry Legend was an all-star as soon as he hit the court in the NBA and duting his 13 years was arguably the greatest player in the league.

Is Dirk better than Larry? Wait a minute...HA-HA-HA, hold on...HA-HA-HA.

While Dirks a fine player and does belong in the HOF he's not in Birds league.

Dirk is maybe the best offensive big man the league has seen. How many 7 footers can stop and pop the "J" from 25 feet better than most guards? If I was calling a draft on existing players, I would take him in a heartbeat over James. BUT, better than Byrd - no way. Larry Byrd had that Red Auerbach intangible - the ability to WILL his way to win by competing fiercely in every facet of the game while perhaps not being the BEST in every facet. In this respect, I would argue that there is NO ONE in the league today who comes close to him.

OMG!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! LARRY IS LIGHT YEARS IN MANY WAYS SO MUCH BETTER THEN DIRK EVER WOULD BE IN MY OPINION. THE MOST OBVIOUS OF THIS FACT IS THAT, LARRY WAS A MASTER OF THE PASSING GAME. THE ABILITY TO SEE THE FLOOR THE WAY HE DID, WENT HAND IN HAND WITH HIS SCORING ABILITY. IN ADDITION, DIRK IS JUST NOW IT SEEMS TRYING TO PLAY WITH HIS BACK TO THE BASKET. BIRD COULD PLAY INSIDE JUST AS WELL AS HE COULD SHOOT THE ROCK. SECOND, YOU DO NOT HEAR AS GOOD AS DIRK IS (RESPECT), PLAYERS ARE BETTER FOR BEING ON THE FLOOR WITH HIM. LARRY MADE YOU A BETTER PLAYER BECAUSE AS DID MAGIC AND JORDAN, HE EXPECTED NOTHING LESS. WHY, BECUASE HE WAS GIVING HIS ALL EVERY NIGHT AS WELL. LAST, ANYONE WHO THINKS DIRK IS A BETTER SHOOTER DID NOT GROW UP WATCHING BIRD/MAGIC AS I DID (44 YRS OLD ON THE 24TH).

You can not be serious...

Dirk is a very good offensive player. I think he's improved since he won the MVP and I think he will continue improving over the next few seasons. It's just that he hasn't been great for his whole career. He was very good for a large part of it, but I don't think he's had the same kind of longevity of being a great player yet.
