I tell you what, after watching this fight I have to say in my opinion JDS is gonna get past Cain. Not saying it will be easy but I think he has the stand up and the ground game to win.

I still wanna see Mendes vs Aldo. I would like to see Florian fight someone else at 145 and see how he looks. Thats being said, Florian vs Aldo is fun fight.

Munoz vs Stann would be an awesome fight. We would get to see if Stann can keep the fight standing against a great wrestler.

I also like Weidman vs Nick Ring. I want them to bring up Weidman slowly. I hate Grove so watching Weidman beat the hell out of him would be fun for me.

Pee Wee Herman vs the winner of Kongo vs Barry is an awesome matchup too.

Just a thought, but is it just me or does anyone else think that PeeWee might be suited to a cut to 205?

He weighed in at only 233, and he could cut from there almost without losing much muscle. Maybe he thinks that he will do better with the lower level talent at HW though, so maybe he should stay there.

They asked Peewee about it at the press conference after the fight. He said he has no desire whatsoever to cut weight and put his body through that.

He needs to add a little muscle instead - and he's got lots of room on his frame. Lots of top HWs are 240-245ish rather than being up against the cap.

there it is a Tough fight for both of them . the question is will brock fight again or at least within a year

i have to say carwin's loss to JDS he looked way better than his loss to Brock. coming off a major back surgery and a years worth or ring rust he had good moments

Nice write up as always Harry. I think Florian is getting Aldo, but I agree that he should maybe fight one more time at 145 before that happens.I want to see Munoz fight Stann.Cerrone called out Stout, and I'd love to see that.Lastly, I think I'd rather see Weidman fight a guy coming off a win. Catone makes a little sense, but Grove doesn't really. I think we all know what would happen there. We saw it in the Tim Boetsch fight. Maybe throw Short Fuse Herman or Nick Ring at Weidman.

I just think Kenny is one of the most boring fighters out there. He would get destroyed by Aldo IMO

Cerrone/Pettis and Stann/Munoz are PERFECT matchups....except that Cerrone should get someone better than Pettis....he wants to work his way UP, not back down the ladder...and Pettis was never more than a flashy kick with no power...Ben Henderson is FAR more likely to make waves in UFC...

well....people are pretty much having to choose between HW and LW to avoid GSP, Silva, and Jones...

Welcome back. Short term, I think you're right about Henderson/Pettis, which leaves me inclined to agree with you about Cerrone. Long term, I think Pettis will develop into a great fighter...

If Guida can dominate him for the entire fight, he isn't going anywhere...even when Pettis finally was in a dominate position, Guida reversed it and finished the fight going for a rear-naked at the bell....strikers are gonna take it to him, grapplers are gonna take it to him...I see Pettis getting a string of losses as his win in WEC put him on a higher level then he will ever be able to handle. Guida is one of the worst LWs in the UFC but keeps his position because we love his fights, win or lose, they are exciting. That tells me that just about every other LW in UFC is going to school Pettis 6 ways from Sunday. He's just lucky he is in such a small weight class so damage to his body won't be as bad....if he was a LHW, I'd worry about him getting killed in his next fight. Ultimately, Pettis' ONLY claim to fame is that kick off the cage against Henderson in WEC but he lost most of his power the moment he left the ground. It was all flash and no substance.

I'd put money on Florian over Aldo....Hominick showed that Aldo isn't all that...and Florian is WAY above Hominick, skill-wise, style-wise, experience-wise, etc...Florian's height will also give him an advantage as Aldo's face will be at perfect striking height while Aldo will have to punch up to get a Florian. Also, Florian's height will give leverage in the clinch and allow him to push Aldo around, push and hold Aldo against the cage, etc...Florian also doesn't stop...Aldo was completely gassed in the final round against Hominick and Florian will be able to keep pushing beyond that especially when he dropped some mass to get down to FW which would likely improve his cardio.

Let me first say that I hate Clay Guida and I think he is boring as hell. He dry humps his opponents and never attempts to pass guard from top position. But, to call him one of the worst fighters in the LW division is crazy. In fact, he is probably one to two big wins away from getting a title shot. He has four straight wins and has won seven of his last nine (plus the fight he lost against Diego you could argue that he won it). His resume puts him in the top-10 in the LW division, nowhere near the bottom the half, certainly not one of the worst.

Second, Pettis isn't only one kick. The kick has made him popular amongst people who only watch highlights, however, he did beat Bendo in a 5-round fight. It's not like he only won one round based off of that kick alone.

Pettis is also only 24 years old and he is 15-2 with 5 of those wins in a major promotion against top of the line competition. To say that Pettis is on his way out of the UFC is a little extreme after one loss to Clay Guida. I think Bendo and Pettis will both has successful careers and I consider them both to be exciting fighters.

Your point about Florian is also rather suspect. For one thing you said that him dropping weight will improve his cardio. Typically, the hardest part about dropping weight is maintaining you cardio. Normally, it is easier to keep your cardio up at a comfortable weight class where you don't have to cut as much weight. This is why Frankie Edgar has said numerous times he doesn't want to cut weight because he knows his cardio is better when he is close to his natural weight. The only time cutting weight typically helps cardio is in the case of very large heavyweights, not guys like Florian who cut 30 pounds to make a weight class.

The main reason Florian cut to Featherweight is because at lightweight he got pushed around by big powerhouse wrestlers (Gray Maynard, Sean Sherk). My personal opinion is that he will still get pushed around by powerhouse wrestlers at featherweight.

Bj's boxing gave KenFlo fits when they fought. I feel that Aldo's speed might catch Florian off-guard. If you take a look at the fighters KenFlo has fought in the UFC, my personal opinion is that none of them are as explosive as Aldo.
