MMA  > General MMA  > Can BJJ experts grapple effectively in the dark?

Maybe just an idle curiosity but IF they can grapple effectively on touch alone, I think it would be kinda cool to see Maia and Fitch(or some other top notch BJJ experts) in a grappling match(no striking) in the dark with all cameras hooked up to night vision and infrared...

obviously not too practical for a PPV but the idea seems cool...

This is actually an interesting topic, I think. Odd, but interesting.

There have been some nearly blind BJJ practitioners. I think there is a guy who trains at American Top Team who is blind, and Yuki Nakai is nearly blind and had an extremely successful BJJ career (after Gerard Gordeu gouged his eyes and permanently blinded one of them.)

It would be bad ass to see some elite level competitors grapple in the dark. Marcelo vs Penn, Maia vs Fitch, Roger vs Jacare, these would all be great matches.

You're an idiot. See comment 18 in the Overeem-Penn thread that Cyne started. Ignoring you now, because you are a total nutjob.

Jim, you're a t-ard...get use to me constantly proving you wrong...

I understand that you lack the intelligence to comprehend what we are talking about....let the adults talk now...

I have to see a match first before I can give an opinion about the grappling in the dark. I dont know if that is my thing.

This is a decent question. Odd but decent. I'm sure Maia and others would fare just fine. This actually brings up another question: How would a blind fight fare in a grappling match?

Maybe there's some type of gimp mask they could wear instead of shutting out the lights on the fans.

But I'm not sure that your thing, either. Hahaha.

Awesome. Just watched bloodsport last night on versus. One of my favorite movies growing up.

Same.
Ha - When Bloodsport came out in up Canada in the late 80s, you had to be 18 or with an adult to see it. So we had to buy tickets to stuff like Who Framed Roger Rabbit or Short Circuit and then sneak in to see Van Damme.
