At MW I think Hendo would have remained champ after coming over from Pride for a while, eventually losing to Sonnen very recently. At WW it has to be Fitch. He has beat everyone in the division and his only loss in the last several years is GSP. In my opinion, until someone other than GSP beats him, any answer other than Fitch is wrong.

I would say Rich Franklin would still be tops at MW. The only person he couldn't beat was Silva.
Fitch is a good pick, but BJ did just push Fitch to the limits.

Yeah and I know the whole Penn won 2 rounds things, but the judges did give it a draw which would've let Fitch keel his belt. I thought of Franklin, and he definitely would've held on to the belt if there was no Silva to take it to him but I think Hendo would've beat him 3 years ago or whenever the merger was

Hendo did beat Rich though, pretty decisively. And I think that Dan would KO Chael and be able to keep that fight standing.
I have to say I think Hendo would be tops at 185.
As for 170, I think that BJ would reign. Although I think he could lose to Fitch, Shields and Koscheck.

Franklin lost a split decision, that alot of people thought he actually won.
Hendo or Franklin are the most likely current MWs that might be champ but are there any LHWs that avoided the MW division to stay away from Silva?...like Machida perhaps? I would imagine Machida might stay out of the MW division for the same reason Silva won't challenge for the LHW title. At WW, it's gotta be Fitch with his only loss being to GSP...

All good picks above. I will say both divisions would be a lot more interesting.
lol thats true, there wouldnt have been as many snoozer title fights from both Silva and GSP

actually if Fitch was the champ there would be even more boring WW title fights

The judge that scored that fight for Rich must bleed Bengals Orange.
That wasn't a close fight, but I do remember that people somehow thought Rich won.
Let's also not forget that he was KO'd by Vitor, and lost that fight with Wanderlei.
To add a couple of guys that haven't been mentioned yet:
WW: Hate to say it, but Jake Shields
MW: Maybe Mousasi - who should not have moved up to LHW if he wasn't gonig to muscle up a little and add genuinely concentrate on adding American style wrestling to his game to complement his sambo
