NFL  > General NFL  > NFL NETWORKS TOP 100 PLAYERS OF 2011 -- WHO WILL MAKE THE TOP TEN?
July 1, 2011, 08:12 PM
This list isn't very good if you ask me ...
but I think the players got the top ten right. We're all pretty sure that these are the players that are left:

Ray Lewis
Julius Peppers
Ed Reed
Adrian Peterson
Darrel Revis
Drew Brees
Andre Johnson
Troy Polamulu
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady

I'm sure there will be disagreements on were they rank in the top ten, but I believe each of these players deserve a spot. (When you get to the top 20, they're all pretty much interchangeable if you ask me, aside from Manning and Brady.)
My feelings aside, I think the list will go like this:

10. Julius Peppers
9. Adrian Peterson
8. Ray Lewis
7. Ed Reed
6. Drew Brees
5. Andre Johnson
4. Darrel Revis
3. Troy Plamulu
2. Peyton Manning
1. Tom Brady

Yeah, I strongly disagree with Ben's placement at 41. I'd put him in the top 20, easy. I picked the Steelers to win the Superbowl this coming year, hopefully if I'm right, Ben will finally get the credit he is deserved. I mean come on, how many quarterbacks have three rings?
As for Brady ... is it just me or is Brady a no brainer over Manning? I feel like Brady is more athletic and more skilled then Manning while Manning may be a bit smarter.
Peyton will make an excellent head coach one day if he decides to go into that field.

over the last decade, manning's been ~surrounded~ by better recievers, tight-ends, etc. than brady has,.........brady's done well whith the semi-weapons he's been handed !

But Brady has had a better defense than Manning has had. Also a better overall O-line.

False! Sorry Mother.

Why isn't Brett Favre in the top ten. Could it be age discrimination?

Aaron Rodgers does not deserve the top 10.
He has a great defense and an unbelievably talented receiving squad ... He's definitely not as good as we make him out to be. Give me a couple years ...

1. Tom Brady
2. Peyton Manning
3. Drew Brees
4. Michael Vic
5. Ben Roethlisberger
6. Philip Rivers
7. Aaron Rodgers is probably the seventh best quarterback in the NFL. There's Manning and Brady then I think Rivers, Roethlisberger, Vic, and Brees are interchangeable ... After them, a couple steps down, you'll find Rodgers, Ryan, Shaub, and Freeman.

Big Ben has a great defense. Two defensive player of the years on it. Least amount of points given up. Best against the rsuh. Most sacks. They carried Ben to his first Superbowl.

Vick has more talented recievers. Most of Peytons career he had more talent recievers. Brady had Welker, Branch and those talented rookie TEs. The Chargers have had tons of talent since starting for San Diego and Rivers has failed to get them a ring.

I'm a Packers fan and I will tell you that their recievers (except Jennings) are not that great at all. Driver is old, often injured and was top 10 in drops. James Jones was also top 15 in drops. Nelson was top 5 in drop percent(% of passes thrown his way that were dropped). I wouldn;t put the Packers in the top 5 receiving cores and probably not even top 10.

So you're a statistics guy?
You're forgetting the impact the Packers receivers have on the field, you forget how much heart they play with ... We all remember Driver's amazing touchdown against the 49ers.
It's not about stats, it's about determination, leadership and skill ... this receiving core has more of that then any receiving core in the league. Driver is old but that's hardly an argument at all. He's a fantastic player, well all know that. As for Michael Vick, you can't argue with his IMPACT on the field. And since you're a statistics guy, go and look at the stats. It's clear that Vick is a top five quarterback.
And if your problem with Ben is that he has a great defense, then the same argument can be made for Rodgers. In fact, if it wasn't for his defense it's a possibility that the Packers wouldn't have made the playoffs at all.
I'm not going to sit here and argue about why Ben is a better quarterback then he gets credit for because I don't have the tolerance for you ignorance, but I will say this. He's a game changer. He has a great defense, but Ben changes games when he's on the field. An average quarterback can't go to three Superbowls, it just doesn't happen. I'm standing by what I believe ... Ben is a way better quarterback.
Besides I never said Rodgers is a bad quarterback ... he's a fantastic quarterback. But he's not as good as that top seven.

Let me ask you something. If someone has a differing opinion of any one subject, why is it that they're "ignorant"? Just because they may not agree with your opinion, they don't have the right to form their own? Those kind of statements only lead others to think you're a troll, and my advice to you, my friend, is to word your thoughts carefully. There's enough trolls here as it is, and once labeled, it's hard to shed.
Just sayin'.

Like any top ten list, this is based on opinion unless you are going to stat's. If that is the case then you need to break down the list by position played and how many season's he played.

He is saying that he wants to see more from Rodgers before he anoints him with certain labels.
