NBA  > General NBA  > 2010-2011 Heat or 2003-2004 Lakers: Bigger Disappointment/More Talented Team

I don't think there have been any teams that had more star power and were expected to win a championship more than these two teams in recent history.

I want to get some opinions and comarisons on who you think was better, who was a bigger disappointment, etc.

Starters:
Heat: Lakers:
Mike Bibby Gary Payton
Dwyane Wade Kobe Bryant
Lebron James Devean George
Chris Bosh Karl Malone
Joel Anthony Shaquille O'neal

That didn't post the way I wanted it to, but I hope its clear I was trying to display the starters on the two squads. My bad. lol

I personally think the 2004 Lakers were a bigger disappointment. I think with the Heat, its easy to say LBJ and Dwade are probably 2 of the top 3 players in the league. I have no problem saying Kobe and Shaq were the top 2 best players in the league (sorry Tim Duncan).

I know Karl Malone was getting older, but I got the feeling that season that he willingly took a lesser role instead of his skills declining significantly. If you called Shaq and Kobe equal to LBJ and Dwade, I would take an old Malone over Bosh.

200 people view it but not one person will leave a comment or an opinion? Am I doing something wrong? lol

Lakers, easy. Shaq and Kobe in their primes.

Yes, that was a disappointing loss by the Lakers to the Pistons. I even thought the Lakers would win, me being a Lakers fan. On the other hand, Cleveland fans weren't disappointed with the loss, they definitely enjoyed the moment.

In fact, after the Heat man-handled the Celtics and the Bulls, I thought it would be a breeze for them in the finals against the Mavericks. I wasn't disappointed with the Heat in the finals, I was more disappointed with Lebron. He's the reason why they lost in the finals.

A team that makes the finals is never a disappointment. The Heat can definitely not be called a disappointment. They didn't play together in the preseason due to injury. Didn't get Mike Miller back until late due to injury. Haslem didn't play until the postseason due to injury. It is in my opinion a statement that the Heat could even make the finals in a very tough eastern conference.

They still had 2 of the best 3 players in the league and a 3rd all-star. Let's not set the bar too low, lol.
