NFL  > General NFL  > Superbowl or Bust: Eagles throwing in all their chips before any games are played

Yawwwnnnnnn!!!! (#1 Giants fan wakes from his Summer hibernation)

Yay Football is back (Really, was there any doubt?)

Apon another season for my Giants with a new 10 year CBA and one team is taking advange of the "Free angen-crazy".. My Hated Eagles!!!

I don't think I ever seen so many teams just totally change the look of their entire team from a week ago in a matter days and front and center are the eagles who baslicly telling everyone they are going full steam ahead from right NOW to the Superbowl. As a Giants fan all you hope for is to see them fail but the pure NFL fan in me just can't believe how stacked they are and baring injuries it's impossble not to put them as the NFC rep in the Superbowl.

The Patriots should be the AFC rep.. right? That was even before they got #85 and Fat- Albert.....

So basicly the entire NFL season will be about 1 thing..Who's stoping the Eagles and the Patriots from getting to the Superbowl?

-Obviously the Defending Champs. The Packers really don't have to do anything during this period other than get their full starters to maybe complete the season healthy this time.
-The Falcons look to have a solid offense that can put up a easy 30+points a game.
- Stock is raising for the Lions and Bucs to be Key NFC Sleepers and upset specialists !!!
- The Bears actually have a REAL WR (even though it's Roy E. Williams) for the cheap price of nothing compared to what the Cowboys gave for his un-services. Maybe still too expensive for Bears brass but given Roy had his best years with Martz, why not take a shot? I hope Cutler's "torn/sprained/tweeted knee" can keep him in games, although that back up looked good didn't he?
- The Vikes still have enough players and now a proven QB in "mc-nabby" to make some noise in a offense that suits his skill set.
-My Giants and Cowboys... I really don't know where they stand with such new look NFC conference. Romo should be on fire right off the bat, He's somebody I'm looking to have on a few of my fantasy teams. Eli looks like he really wants to prove something. I think the Top 100 diss was upsetting, with a more mature WR core and given they sign Bradshaw and Jacobs is taking less money but playing more incentives, could bring the running game back to where it belongs but the new make shift O-Line is the biggest question mark
On the AFC side..
-The Chargers can't get any worse on Special teams, it has to be all positive news for them right?
Jets - That December vs the Eagles... SB Preview?
- The Steelers have to be always in the mix but is age, a DUI and twitter catching up with them? Really if "all smiles" Hines is getting DUI's, something has to be wrong right?
-I'm on Wade's side to turn the Texans defense to a Monster this season!!!
-Am I the only guy who just loved Colt McCoy last season? I'm rooting for that kid to shock that Division!!!

Still I can't dismiss the Patriot way... No matter what the road to the superbowl in the AFC is threw New England!!!

There's enough in the NFC to take down the Eagles, It just won't be easy even if they stay 80% healthy for the year.

Should be a fun Season!!! Looking foward to chating with you all again !!!

PS: What up Easy? I thought you put the contract out on Mike Brown this Summer.. JK Brother!!!

Hey Sam!.
This is Bull. I've converted to a Japanese name, but it's still me. I have a name conversation thing, and your name would be Arikarin ToFuJi (Sam NYG).

Welcome back.

Welcome back Sam, I think the Giants will have a tough time winning their division this season because the Eagles really improved their defense.

As much as I dislike the Eagles, strictly personal, what has Dallas or NYG done to really improve their team? Like I said before, teams will now have to throw at Asomugha, he has had only 11 interceptions over 8 years, there are LB's with more. Asomugha should have gone to a team with one week corner so he can live off his reputation as a shut down corner. Teams could wear him down if they now go after him in Philly.

It wont be boring, that's for sure.

Looks like Plax is staying in NY ...with the Jets!!! Should be the best fit for him, It's going to be a emotonal game when the Giants and Jets meet this season. I hope the priority is to sign Steve Smith now for the Giants, yeah it didn't look like Eli really wanted Plax back at all.

Hey Ripper and Bull... Glad to be back!

Yeah I don't see the Giants doing well with a new O line and all the Osi issues, I thought they should have went after Cullen Jenkins but of course who takes him..... I'm with Phillyfan though, it won't be boring that's for sure

With all the hype of the Eagles signings, just remember that their defense was abused for be slow, and light in the ass...that has not changed, they are exchanging one CB for another, and then putting a DE at DT.

The Giants will beat them twice barring injury.

I think you're just disappointed that Asomugha didn't sign with the 49er's.

Since I wanted Clements out I was of coarse hoping the 49ers would sign Asomugha to fill the void. There is no proof that Nnamdi is a true shut down corner, he hasn't been tested that much. Even Dion Sanders was tested more than Nnamdi. I thought the only reason the 49ers didn't take a corner in the draft was because they would pursue Nnamdi, Baalke has his pen stuck were the sun doesn't shine. As a new GM he is afraid of getting burned for big money. The acquisition of Asomugha would have made Dashon Goldson more eager to sign with the 49ers. They now are back to looking uncertain again, and have no secondary. My own superstitious feeling is that the 49ers have no respect for Cal players. This year 2011 they could have had Cameron Jordon they took Aldon Smith, they could have had a very good (smart) linebacker by taking Mike Mohammed in the 6th round, the year before they could have had SydQuan Thompson in 2010 and they took Philip Adams, they could have had DeSean Jackson in 2008 yet they took Chilo Rachael, in 2005 they could of had Aaron Rodgers and they took Alex Smith. Yet you look at all the teams that made the playoffs and just about every one of them had a Cal alumni on their team. The 49ers must have the worst west coast scouting in the NFL, because they continually west coast talent, if it wasn't for the media blaring Colin Kaepernicks name I'm sure they would have passed on him.

do you think Gore is worth giving in to on his hold out Narry? He is still averaging around 4 yard`s per carry I think, and what else do the 9ers have ?

I haven`t heard much on Gore other than he is holding out, and was wondering if ya knew much about it, and whatcha thinking they should do.

The fact of the matter is that the Eagles improved dramatically on defense while the Giants were stagnant. In this league you have to keep on improving or else you'll fall further behind the competition. To say that the Giants will beat the Eagles twice doesn't make any sense.

That train of thought was dead accurate the second after the playoff loss to the Packers.

Any given Sunday absolutely, the games are won on the field.

A lot has changed though, and in dramatic fashion.
The Eagles got faster at CB, LB, DE. Arguably the best secondary in the NFL at this moment. One can not compare CB's Asomugha, and DRC to CB's Hobbs, and Patterson.

A rolling stone gathers no moss.

Speaking of Rolling Stones, the band will be going out on tour to celebrate their 50th year as the greatest rock band on earth. Where can I get my tickets?

The Eagles defense got steam rolled all last season, they have not increased their team speed or size...They will be the same, explosive on offense, dead beats on defense.

Asomugha is an improvement over Samuel, and DRC is better than Patterson...Where else do the Eagles get better...

The Giants just needed to get healthy, they lost almost all their DB's last season.

It is stupid of his agent or him to even think about a contract extension after having a season ending hip injury, plus the fact that although he'd be important to the offense he would not have the importance that Singletary placed on his shoulders, he will not be the workhorse he will be part of the rotation. It seems like both sides should just be in agreement that Gore come to practice and both sides will talk about contract extensions mid way through the season, which is when they should sign or not sign a player extension, if he is doing good for the first half of 2011 then offer the extension, if he is only a so-so runner midway through the season, just tell him he needs to improve or start thinking about another team.
