Class player. Team player. Signs the long term deal without squeezing the Colts for every dime. Ok, it's still sick money. But hey, he could've held a gun to the team's head and beaten them down for more, hamstringing the organization's ability to pay other players adequately. This guy irritated me a bit a few years back when he was pointing fingers at teammates in a press conference after a bad loss, but other than that (and I think he regretted saying that out of extreme frustration) I have a lot of respect for how he handles himself, across the board.

Hard to say all this with Manning and the Colts always representing one of the 4 or 5 biggest threats to the Bolts over the years (No. 1 threat being the Chargers killing themselves). Anyway, congrats to him on that fat 90 Large deal, and hope that neck injury is healed up properly. Looks like Addai re-signed, too.

I don't see how some teams make payroll with the money they throw at their biggest stars. Seems the formula has been ... give them a prorated signing bonus and structure the salary to be small at first, adequate in the middle, then outrageous towards the end. Most players never see the huge money at the end they're either cut or have their contracts re-structured to help pay for other up-and-coming players.

I feel bad for the Mannings.... athletes have a tough life having all that tang thrown their way.

I'd love to have their tough life and get tang thrown my way.

Whenever I see him in his civvies he doesn't even remind me of an athlete. He has those droopy shoulders, long thin neck and head. He reminds me of a nerdy accountant, I guess even nerdy accountants can become one of the great QB's of all time. Of coarse Jerry Rice looked bigger than life on TV yet I was surprised that I was taller than him. I hadn't seen my uncle in 15 years and when we had brunch I had forgot how big he was, I felt felt kind of puny.
