I hope they are still talking about Bell. Bedard doesn't excite me too much. Talented as heck, but more injury prone than Donovan Osborne was.

I like the deal. Furcal is capable when healthy of playing as a good lead ofrf hitter, and the defence is a definate upgrade, and the best part is that he didn't really cost us anything. In the event that his hitting doesn't return to old form we are really no worsr off than before the trade. I don't see how you can go wrong with this.
I figure taht Furcal will be the starting SS, Theriot will move to secound and Skip will become the Super Sub thet TLR likes to keep but hasn't quite had for the last couple of years, sence Skip can play all three outfield positions well and also can put in tie at secound base.
Wasn't crazy about the talk of acquiring Bedard unless it was anouther get really cheep type of deal, which I don't think was the case sence to Red Sox wanted and got him. I wanted the Cardinals to go ater him a few years back and I have been glad that they didn't ever sence the guy cant stay healty for a mounth much less a season.
I really was hopeing for Bell but my guess is that the asking price was Miller or Martinez and that's way to high for a rental. Both look to be a mqajor part of the not so distant future of the ball club. Scouts from SD were supposed to be at the game last night and i figure we were showcasing Lynn and Sallas as an Ether or for Bell, I hope that we wern't offering both, but who knows. Anyway thats my two cents turned into a buck fifty.

Totally agree on Furcal, since it didn't cost us anything I like the deal. Theriot's defense at short has simply not been that good, so Furcal can be a major upgrade there.

I figured Bell was a long shot and I figured SD would ask for Miller. Absolutely not a move the Cards should make. Miller's upside isn't worth trading for a closer, no matter how good that closer is.

No doubt Bell is good, but no one is that good. I think that we can look at other options or at this point I am OK with standing pat if there isn't a true upgrade over what we have availabe.

I agree and you know they had to be asking a ton, considering how many teams were "interested" and the fact that he's still in San Diego!

That's true. They must have been asking for the moon, because I am very surprised he's still there.

I agree, especially since he was one of the first names mentioned when talking about the trade deadline
