Give this a shot all you Fan Nation geniuses and homers. Pick the team you think will ascend and descend the most in the rankings between the list below and the final BCS ranking after the NCG.

Scoring details will remain somewhat vague in order to allow for more debate during the off season. (I've been told debating is really just arguing with rules.)

The winner receives FN braggin' rights the entire off season and their own customized bar stool at GR's Ice House (pending GR's approval of course).

Selections must be made prior to opening day kick off.

1. Oklahoma
2. Alabama
3. Oregon
4. LSU
5. Florida State
6. Stanford
7. Boise State
8. Oklahoma State
9. Texas A & M
10. Wisconsin
11. Nebraska
12. South Carolina
13. Virginia Tech
14. Arkansas
15. TCU
16. Ohio State
17. Michigan State
18. Notre Dame
19. Auburn
20. Mississippi State
21. Missouri
22. Georgia
23. Florida
24. Texas
25. Penn State

Ascend would be either ND or Florida. Descend, what if they fall out of the BCS rankings? Anyway, I'm thinking Stanford, Okie St., or A&M. Not ready to commit yet though.

Approval granted.

Descend - Oklahoma (aTm a close 2nd)
Ascend - VT (was Arky till Davis went down).

And I should probably remind all of you exactly how much I sux at picks. Badly. REALLY badly. REALLY INCREDIBLY badly.

not sure davis being gone will diminish Ark. might, but davis' success came with a very strong passing attack. expect the same this year.

you might be right about OU however it won't take much to win the Big XII this year. If they beat FSU, they'll be in a BCS bowl. If they lose to FSU, they still have a great shot at winning the Big XII.

true LB...but it didn't take much to win the big 12 last year either. The conference really sucked.

Well crap...those are the two I was going to pick! But if you suck that bad at pickin' I'm gonna pick different ones.

Probably won't even win my own contest dag nabbit.

The SEC is the team with the best chance to ascend.

Win or lose, I already got me a special seat at the Haus, it's the high chair next to the juke box. And don't even think about sitting in it! Tnerb is the only one that has permission to use it when I'm not there.

What do you want if you win (and you will...you picked half the field!) and I'll negotiate with GR for your winnings.

If BSU does well, it is only because of their Blue field. If they beat Georgia on the road, it will largely be because they had all Summer to prepare.

Right?

Ooops, I left out trick plays. Trick plays are like cheating!

On a serious note...is anyone in favor of doing away with pre-season polls? maybe wait until October or something? Would that really make an impact on the "fairness" of the rankings?

I'm in favor of not having polls at all...hence the use of "folly" as the descriptor for the polls.

Might could be talked into two of them...one right after the final conference games and then after the bowl games.

I'm in favor of doing away with ranking non-BCS teams. And never ranking any SEC team worse than #25.

Oh wait, you wanted serious.

Texas A&M moves way up 'cause .... well ... they're an SEC team now.

So the SEC teams will have to start playing 9 conferences games and schedule 1 less cupcake opponent. Interesting.
