NFL  > Houston Texans  > Just a few more pieces left until the big show!

Coach Gary Kubiak started his intense scrutiny of himself and his staff on Monday. I hear sources say that the Texans will pick up Mike Shanahan and make him assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. With him reunited back with his longtime friend Gary Kubiack, it's a job he cannot pass up. He decided to make changes by firing defensive coordinator Richard Smith, defensive backs coach Jon Hoke and defensive line coach Jethro Franklin. Other sources say that Kubiack is courting Romeo Crennel for the defensive coordinator position which will make the Texans a team to watch in '09'.

IMHO there is no way Kyle's father would/should push his son aside and take the offensive coordinator's position. Kyle prooved with the Chicago game that if Kubiak let's Kyle do his job the offense can work; furthermore when Kubiak isn't trying to do two jobs he is actually a fair to good head coach with potential to be a great coach. He just needs to learn to delegate and let his subordinates do their jobs so that he can concentrate on his. So in my opinion if Kyle is going to stay then Mike should look elsewhere. Now that is only my opinion and of course you know what they say about opions.
As for the defense, I am not going to address Crennell directly, but i will state what I believe the Texans need...... AN INTELLIGENT, STRONG OPINIONATED, STRONG CHARACTORED, VETERAN, (his personality needs to be similar to Bill Parcells'). He needs to have enough confidence to stand up to Kubiak and say my defense is going to have a bad attitude, it is going to have a mean streak with an attacking abusive, domineering personality. Not the type of MEN Kubiak could call Kids.....ON ANOTHER NOTE IF I HEAR KUBIAK REFER TO HIS PLAYERS AS KIDS ONE MORE TIME I AM GOING TO BLOW MY TOP. THEY ARE NOT KIDS! THEY ARE MEN PLAYING A MAN'S GAME! If you think they are kids just rememeber the MAN standing across from your KID is going to MANHANDLE YOUR KID. KUBIAK THEY ARE MEN EXPECT THEM TO STAND UP AS MEN AND A MAN DOESN'T LET ANYONE PUSH THEM AROUND.

Well we have Bush and he sounds like he agrees with the bad attitude, mean, nasty, attacking defensive approach i was looking for but he called his players KIDS not once or twice but over a dozen times in his interview. Maybe i don't know what i am talking about but damn
It sure raises the cackles on the back of my neck.

Yeah, Shannahan is going to give up 7 mill. to take an assistant job. Brilliant.

I think the Texans should hire htownsjyfly33 as their D.C. No offense would be able to "perform" seeing her on the sidelines.

Not sure about all the bull I've been reading here, but I do think the Texans are definitely a contender, if not this year, then next for sure.
