No. The Preseason needs to show the players at their full potential. It would be difficult to showcase how physical a defensive guy is if he's simply pulling a flag off another guys belt.
Not to mention it's easier to simply pull a flag .. the corners would be able to stop receivers in their tracks a lot quicker .. all they would have to do is to reach out and pull the flag after a receiver catches the ball on a slant route or on a dump off. Receivers wouldn't be able to show how good they are after the catch.

I think they are trying that with the kick-offs already!

Why not just put leotards and tutu's on the players :)
I think I know why you're asking this. No game planning, vanilla offense and defense but it's pre season and no team is going to show what their schemes are during this time. iwantfootball is correct in his comments. It's the time coaches are looking at players from the draft and FA. It's tough making the cuts to get down to the 53 man roster and for those on the bubble, this is their only chance to convince the coaching staff that they would be a good addition to the team.

QUOTE(#5):
Once the regular season starts, every team is 0-0. Some people tend to get too excited over preseason games.
No one's denying that, I think you're missing the point.
The regular season is about team effort ... the preseason is about every players individual talent. At least that's what I think.

QUOTE(#6):
Some teams have already lost good players for the season due to injury. I think the Giants have already lost 3 starting corner backs. The Cardinals lost their top pick in the draft along with Detroit I believe.
Same as it's always been.
