NFL  > New England Patriots  > The End of Mr. Brady
January 7, 2009, 12:05 PM
Tom Brady was injured all of this year. Next year there a threat that Matt Cassell can take over the starting qb spot. And if Brady comes back that he could be the 2nd string QB. Is this the end of Mr. Tom Brady. Or could he bounce back and get his team were they once were.

Hello....Minnesota Vikings calling here...whatcha doing for the next 5 years there Tom? Wanna play in a nice warm dome? Sorry TJ, had your chance bud.

Tom Brady is the greatest Quaterback ever! This is garbage as a Jets fan there is nobody better than him. Not even a debate

I hear Drew Bledsoe will be also be making a comeback as back up for Cassell and Brady. Might as well throw that I for those who enjoy their make believe world.

I heard that Drew Bledsoe will be making a comeback and sign with the Pats to backup Cassell and Brady. Might as well throw this out to add to those who live in a make believe world of thought and rumors.

Its still FAR to early to have this conversation. I think Brady will be fine, but its still going to take another whole year for this injury to fully heal. The most positive thing to take from this is that it was his left leg, not his right, the planting leg. Brady never was a big scrambler, not part of his game, he's a pocket passer with the best pocket presense in the game....so I dont see this affecting his game all that much. Its just going to take time for the healing, thats all.

dumb**** post!

Brady is back to being the starter for NE for a long time as soon as he's healthy, no question about it. Cassel's just a temporary insurance policy and will be traded when Brady's ready.

Heck if I was Brady I'd take one more season off and travel the world with my beautiful G... Let Cassell run the show one more year and when you come back its three straight superbowls.

I know where Tom Brady lives, which puts him in walking distance(not that he needs the exercise) to some of the finest medical establishments in the world. As good as Cassel was, 16 games does not make him teh #1QB. He still has a lot to master. He missed far too many open routes and he holds onto the ball far too long. Yes, there were a lot of dropped balls, J.Gafney comes to mind. The Patriot's don't need to rush him back, even with $30million being spent between the two, Kraft and B.B. have another $90million plus to work with. The defensive injuries were just as devasting and there is much work to be done on that side of the line. Brady will be back and will have another chance to prove that he is better than a 6th round pick.

no, they will trade him to another team, get some draft picks. Falcons did the same thing but it back fired. I dont see tom brady being caught up in Dog Fighting Charges.

i think it's just hilarious that peeps are talking about Brady loing his job after an injury. Alot of yall are forgetting that that's how he got his job. He took it when Bledsoe got hurt. And Brady was hurt in the conference title game. It was Bledsoe, not Brady that led team to the Superbowl. But nobody remembers that part. Just the "greatest qb ever" leading his team to the sb. Is he good. Unquestionably yes, greatest ever no. But lets just say that he could go take Romo's job in Dallas anyday. I wouldn't care a bit!!!

I just think that it's hilarious that people are talking about Brady losing his job because of an injury and how wrong it is to do that. Lots of you are forgetting that's how Brady got his job. He took over when Bledsoe got hurt. And that first season that Brady "led his team to the superbowl". The conference championship game that took them there. He was hurt. It was Bledsoe that actually won them that game. But nobody remembers that. Just the "greatest qb ever" leading his team to the sb. No one can question that he is a great qb, but I dunno about greatest ever. But if he wants to come to Dallas and take Romo's job, I won't complain a bit.!!!

January 9, 2009  10:16 PM ET

Let's not forget that Bledsoe was losing favor in NE anyways before his injury. So it was more than just an injury that cost him the starting job.

and there is no way that either Cassell or Brady is going to be a backup once Brady is completely healthy. There is going to be plenty of teams falling over themselves to trade for whomever is placed on the trading block (Cassell) by the Patriots.

Simple as that.

Brady seems distracted from football nowadays. He's rather be humping supermodels. Can't blame the guy, though.

OK, seriously, u want to debate this..... well let forget the superwol that Bledsoe led us half way to, lets look at the next 2 or 3 years.... what happened in them.... I seem to remember a 16-0 season under the arm of Mr. Brady.... I seem to remember a couple of other superbowls that Bledsoe had NOTHING to do with...... really, u want to debate this, please think logically before u speak...... personally I think that they should let Brady start, and at least when he does go down with a re-injury we at least have Cassell there as a rather (very) impressive back-up..... what the Pat's really need to do is deal Hobbs...... I still blame him for losing the superbowl last year!!
