NCAAF  > Wisconsin Badgers  > Wisconsin Badgers vs. UNLV Runnin' Rebels Pre-Game Matchup
August 31, 2011, 03:38 PM
The Badgers return all five starters to what is widely considered one of the best offensive lines in the country???a line that will clear a path for running back John Clay and a very talented Wisconsin backfield.

Expect the Badgers to run early and often in this game, and throughout the season.

UNLV Runnin' Rebels (AP Unranked)
(0-0 Mountain West) (0-0 Overall)

Head Coach: Bobby Hauck
Record Under Hauck: 0-0-0
2009 Record: 3-5 Mountain West, 5-7 Overall
2009 Finish: Sixth in Mountain West / No Bowl Appearance
All Time Record: 219-251-4

Overview:

UNLV first-year coach Bobby Hauck compiled an impressive 80-17 record at Montana and hopes to infuse his winning attitude into a Rebels team that's gone 16-43 over the last five seasons.

While the Badgers are hoping for a Big Ten title and a shot at a premier bowl game, the Rebels start 2010 with a more modest set of expectations that accompany one of the NCAA's toughest schedules.

The Rebels will be running a more traditional offense this season and hope to get a better showing this year from a talented yet underachieving defense.

--------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------

Line: Wisconsin Badgers (Minus-21)

Analysis:

Expect the Badgers to overpower UNLV early and wear down the Rebels defense with their power running game???especially in the second half. Historically, the Badgers are slow starters, so it wouldn't be surprising to see a reasonably close halftime score with Wisconsin pulling away in the second half.

Prediction:

Badgers 48, UNLV 16

Wisconsin fans SUCK! Worst fans of ALL TIME!!!! Just reading the board doesn't mean it EXCLUDES YOU from making a F'N comment...Badger losers. Nice job of showing the rest of the "BIG 10" YOU SUCK!!! Then again...most of you are TROLLS anyway. You ONLY show up when they (Badgers) win....pretty PATHETIC when a ALUMI has to CALL YOU OUT!

This is actually Coach Hauck's second year in Vegas.

You are right but it's the 2011 season.

That also explains the line, WDT has it at (-21) for the Rebels and I had heard that the line was closer to (-35) for UNLV.

Okay...I'm confused. Your screen name is Wisconsin Death Trip and without reading too much into it, I would immediately assume you are a Badger fan but your post doesn't sound like it.

I am UNLV alum and this is one of our biggest games every year. Win or lose.

Are you a Rebel fan or a Badger fan?

Yeah, I know Sweets. But look on the bright side, the Rebels will get a nice paycheck outta their trip to Camp Randall.

Took it from the website at bleacher bums. It's a washout anyway. The main thing is to get people to converse about the teams, and not what some AP writer says.

The web page I took this from posted it up as such, so my bad for not double checking. The game as a whole is going to be a wash anyway. I was just interested in seeing if ANY Badger fans (Other than me, it's obvious I'm the only blogger here) were around to converse.

Score is 51-3 with five-and-a-half minutes left in the 3rd Quarter.

College football needs more high quality games like this. Competition is overrated.

UNLV will be in a fairly heated fight with Wyoming and New Mexico for the MWC cellar. Pretty much a paycheck game. If I am WISC I would worry a bit about needing to win in shootouts against decent running teams though. NEB and tOSU may be able to put up huge points, its a good thing that WISC looks like it can too.

Blame UW, they always schedule EXIBITION games for the first 4 weeks now to post up a better record. Helps get them a bowl game, and foot the bills if they win.

I'm more concerned about the defense of Wisc. than anything.
