St Louis Die Hards  > Group Message Board  > 8/24 Brewers Series

So we eeked out a 2-1 W on Wednesday night. Jackson pitched a really good game.

Last night an 8-3 W. Westbrook, shaky at the start, but settled in and put up quality innings.

BUT - the offense. The pitchers have provided the offense in the last two nights. It was Jackson's single to right that drove on Wednesday. And last night Westbrook hits the first pitch over the fence for a grand slam. The look on his face was amazing..." dang, I hit it, and dang, I guess I should start running !"

Point is, the Brewers staff has their number, and the Cards can't keep relying on miracles if they are to challege the Brewers.

just my two cents.

Well, I guess the offense showed up yesterday finally. Pujols was roundly criticized earlier for failing repeatedly against Milwaukee this year.... he must have taken that criticism to heart.

I have to admit, I certainly didn't expect a sweep in Milwaukee given how well the Crew has played at home this year. There is now a slight flicker of hope again, but we'll likely need another sweep over the Brewers next week at Busch. Maybe this series will hit Milwaukee's confidence and they'll go into a tailspin now.

Even if we sweep the Brewers, if we can't beat the other teams, it won't matter.

Unfortunately, it's a matter of too little, too late

Yeah, I know. I was hoping to carry the momentum from Milwaukee into another sweep of the Reds and then try to close the gap further against Milwaukee this week......but they horrible performance last night smacked my fantasy dream with a big dose of reality.
