MLB  > Milwaukee Brewers  > How to save the Brewers for 2012

Brewers quick fix for the next several years. Dump Fielder (he's going to blow any year now anyway), sign Green (AAA, who hit like .400 when he was called up for several weeks), and plant him on 3rd (dump McGehee), and throw the turtle (McGehee) on 1st. Now, sign Green for cheap (as we did for Braun when he first came up), take the $100 mil you save on dumping Fielder, and use it to resign your pitchers. Now you have a chance for another run the next several years.

NEXT! lol

I provide the weed, it's up to you to smoke it!

The Fielder part certainly makes a ton of sense. And McGehee is having a bad year... is he injured?

September 15, 2011  08:33 PM ET

I think it was an aberration that he played so well last year. I mean the Cubs dumped him, right?!

WORD!

Duh!

Well, his OPS in 2009 (.859) was even better than in 2010 (.801), so he appears to have two good years. But also, in 2010-11 he hits far better in the hitter's haven of his home park, so that has probably pumped his stats up, just playing in Milwaukee.

So maybe you're right -- but then again, who's going to want him if that's true?

Fielder hasn't crashed and burned yet. So his value is still there. I just have a gut feeling he's going to implode in the next few years.

Agreed, you always worry about the jumbo-sized guys, like Andre the Giant, whose dead now -- but then his Dad had a long career, and Ryan Howard is hanging in there pretty well.

True, I guess the Crew won't have to worry about that in the future. lol

GO, DAS CRUE!

September 19, 2011  04:02 PM ET

Yikes!

September 21, 2011  03:42 PM ET

I'm not sure it matters anymore. Even if the Crew gets in (which it will minus a complete collapse), the Crew will struggle in the 1st round, and get creamed by Philly. That being said....I'll still take the T-Shirt. Need to replace the 1982 divisional one. LOL

You never know in a playoff... The Phillies have certainly been struggling the past week. But their rotation is awesome -- I assume one effect of having four great pitchers is that then the other members of the staff learn and improve from their presence and teaching, like the amazing Vance Worley -- or Antonio Bastardo, pardon my Norwegian.

I think our teams (Philly/Brewers) have played a fairly close series this year. I think the Phillies lead the series this year by a few games though.

Sell/Trade Fielder, and build your team for the future. Need to replace all those farm team players you gave away, and you need to resign your starting pitching. Fielder is expendable to the team, but not in the fans eyes....except me.

Fielder is history in Milwaukee after this season and might be headed to the New York Mets.

I'm not sure if I've heard that line before, but I did hear he might go to the Cubs.

What do you Milwaukee fans think about Braun's connection with PED's? Think there is anything to it?
