MLB  > General MLB  > Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillie's (NLCS Preview)
September 23, 2011, 01:21 PM
Although the Milwaukee Brewers slumped a bit to start September, they seem to have found their groove again, and their magic number to clinch the NL Central is down to three.

The starting pitching is once again getting deep into games, lightening the load on the bullpen. The offense also seems to have broken out of their month-long slump in which scoring even four runs a game seemed like an impossibility.

Everyone knows the Philadelphia Phillies are the premiere team in the league, perhaps in all of baseball, and if the Brewers have any hope of reaching their first World Series since 1982, they'll very likely have to get through Philly to do so. Here is a position-by-position breakdown of how the Brewers match up with the NL East champions.

I realize this is a little premature, but I'll stick to my guns that "Das Crue" makes it to the NLCS. After that, they'll' get crushed (I'm a realist) by the Phillies. Then again, as someone once wrote, "That's why you play game, because on any given Sunday......"

Hey, no Deare John on this one? I don't count the Brew Crew out from winning the NL, the way the Phils have been playing! What about that from a Phillies fan, Wisconsin Dirt Track?

I don't agree Helga, the Brewers have a losing record against the Phillies, the Braves, and the Diamondbacks. They could always get struck by lightening though...

WDT, are you old enough to remember Harvey's Wallbangers?

I'm praying that Milwaukee beats Philly in the NLCS.And really, if the Brewers can win a game in Philly, they have a decent shot, since they're so good at home.

We lost the season series to the Braves, the DB's, and the Phillies. We get 3 games at Miller park, and we would need all 3 to win the series. That's tough to do.

70's/80's, they were my favorite Brewers team(s), and he took them to there only WS's in 1982.

The Cards may yet spoil this one. I would def prefer the Cards to the Phillies. Could get payback for '82.....LOL
