I think the signing of Bloomquist gives the Royals options that they have not had to this point. They could move Teahen to third base, Gordon to first base, & Mike Jacobs to DH (he's not a good defensive first baseman). The Royals could then offer the Rangers young prospect Billy Butler, Alberto Callaspo, Brian Bannister and Ross Gload for Michael Young and a pitching prospect. That may be overpaying a bit, but I think the Young acquisition makes the Royals a contender THIS YEAR! Look at this line-up and tell me what you think.
