Manning is a great loss to that team and wouldn't be put on IR unless it is serious. Comments about them throwing the season are just plain ridiculous.

I feel bad for Peyton Manning and the fans, this must be a very tough time for them all ..
But in no way do I feel bad for the Colts organization. They should've picked up a quarterback a LONG time ago, much like the Packers did with Aaron Rodgers.
To go out and pick up Kerry Collins when you've had Painter on your sideline for three years is disrespectful and stupid. If you don't have faith in him, take him off the roster and get someone you do believe in. Otherwise, when you end up in a situation like this, you're screwed.
Not only that, but the Colts have not done a good job surrounding Peyton with the weapons to work with on offense. It just doesn't make sense to me. This team has been riding on Peyton's back for some time now, it's gotten worse and worse since the Superbowl in '06. The Patriots have one of the greatest in the game, but Bellicheck has worked hard at making the team around him prepared for something to happen to Brady. (without him in '08, the Pats went 11-5)
Bellicheck picked up Ryan Mallet this year even though Brady probably has 3 or 4 years left in him. That is the exact thing the Colts should've done some time ago.

i don't think they're trying to ''throw'' the season.
They might not be "trying"...but they are doing a great job at.
This team has won 12 games how many years in a row?
To throw it in this early...
This is the same Colts managment that left Baltimore in the middle of the night...
Interesting idea but I don't think they are trying to throw the season after watching last nights game, if they are the Colts defense didn't get the memo, Mathis and Freeney played lights out.

I agree, I thought the Colts played the Steelers tough and had a chance to win it at the end. I don't think they're trying to throw the season.

Agree. They wouldn't have even tried to win last night if that were the case - and they were definitely trying to win. Almost pulled it off too.

i wish the patriots had freeney and mathis.........those two are the missing piece[s] to our...?~puzzle~? !
For sure Mother. You need a pass rush something awful.

It does look a little suspicious. I think Manning was spending to much time with his lawyers in the off season instead of his doctors, he could have had this surgery done at the end of last season with his own money but he was more interested in having the owners pay for it, Indy's season is toast already so why risk bring Manning in mid-season. Does anyone recall how his neck was injured.
If Manning is really being honest about even playing anymore then I would think he would be demanding that Indy use the #1 draft choice in the 2012 draft on another position besides QB.
Maybe the Colts should trade their #1 draft choice of 2012 to Cincinnati for the rights to Carson Palmer. Brett Favre is always a possibility.

That would mean that they were not throwing in the towel.
I question that?
I hope I am wrong...
