NFL  > Chicago Bears  > Alot of Heat in the Bears Kitchen after Packers loss.

Every writer has his own opinion. Coaches, OL, Dl, Wr, DB's just to name a few. No one is saying old age yet, but give them time. One man graded the entire team and his highest ranking was CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!!! Jay Cutler with a C-!!! Everyone else was lower and the coaches got an F+!!!

I think the biggest problem is they aren't all on the same page. We had 6 yards rushing in the whole game!!! Even if we only ran it twice we should have had more than that! And what about all the over throws of wide open men early in the game by Jay? It looked to me like a total meltdown of the entire team. So when that happens there is only one place to look at. The Coaching. At least we have 13 more games to improve, but why do we have to keep starting out poorly and then have a miraculous finish? Why can't we have the team working together like a team should the entire season? Sure it's only the last game of the season that really matters. (Like that team up north proved last year.) But I for one want a team that is a contender all the time and all season long. Is that too much to ask for? After all we did win our division last year and we only added two new players to our OL. So why all this bad divided play? How many more years are we going to have to put up with this type of coaching? Sure Lovie will probablly save his job AGAIN, by winning in the last 1/2 of the season, but why are we in this predicament in the first place? I for one am ready to either promote Tice to head coach or hire Cower!!! NOW!!! However I know the Bears will wait untill the end of the season, and by that time Lovie will have pulled another job saving performance out of nowhere. And we will Lose in the playoffs again, but it will be good enough to keep Lovie. So we will still be doing the Lovie twist next year. Why??? GO BEARS!!!

You better get rid of Lovie Dovie and sign Mike Martz as your next coach before he gets a better offer some place else. If you don't fans will be talking for years about how close you were to take the next step as a playoff team and let Martz slip away.

September 26, 2011  03:25 PM ET

They need to clean house...right now.

Both coordinators, Lovie Smith, Jerry Angelo (GM), Ted Phillips (President).
They are still sitting on $19 Million dollars of salary cap space for this season...HELLO some lineman, the world has only been preaching this for three seasons...

This team should be a straight punch you in the mouth ground team, and let Cutler pass to move the chains. The Offense should be a 4-3 attack defense, instead of a4-3 Cover 2 prevent defense.

That will not happen under the current coach's and Management.

Mike Martz is the main problem with that offense. That unit is not geared for the pass happy system he loves so dearly. Their best bet is to grind it out and tire the defense instead of coming out and throwing passes all over the field. They need better pass protection to play the type of offense Martz likes.

The main problem is a lack of talent and not Lovie's coaching ability.

You lost the game for 2 reasons. "Cutty" threw some poor passes, and his receivers drop'd them just as often. Packer pass D stinks, and even I know it.

September 26, 2011  05:47 PM ET

Look at history here folks.
Cutler needs a running game. 13 yards rushing yesterday, that says it all.
Elway got to and (badly) lost the first 2 superbowls he played in, then Shanahan build up the OL and got Terrell Davis and they won 2 superbowls in (at the time) their new uniforms which everyone hated before hand and has totally forgot about since then.
Point is obvious, you need to run the ball to win consistently.

BF,just admit it, the BEARS got thier asses kicked, this happens too half the league every week, just hope for the best the next time they take the field.

I think the Packers had too much firepower for the Bears to handle.

With any luck, the Bears will learn again what will win in Chicago with our Defense and Special teams is a run oriented ball control offense. I hope that with this revelation being taught to Martz two seasons in a row that the next time we meet Green Bay the result will be different.

No offense taken easy, but it's too hard for me to admit it yet. Maybe I'm just spoiled or something, but I just can't do it!!! lol GO BEARS!!!

As far as cleaning house I say lets start at the top and let the new man make the changes. Lovie would just say we are happy with the men we have and are going from there. There again I could quote alot of Lovie's disasterous sayings like "We are going to get off the bus running." Etc. etc. Time to clean house at least from JA down. Especially if Cowher wants to be the GM and Head coach!!! If not Tice!!! GO BEARS Super Bowl victory or BUST!!! Right now it looks like bust, and I hope if it is, it's JA's and Lovies jobs that go bust!!!

The problem about the Bears and the OC's is that No one but Martz would take the job!!!

September 27, 2011  03:59 AM ET

That is working with Lovie and the Bears.

I see people blaming Martz when everybody with a say in hiring him (the McCaskeys, Angelo, Phillips, and Lovie) knew his success was based on having a certain system and personnel in place. They also knew that he currently didn't have that personnel and that it would take him several years and drafts to GET that personnel to run that system. Therefore there was an inherent understanding in hiring him that they would give Martz the time to assemble the pieces he needs to run his system that they hired him to run.A Martz's offense is incredibly pass heavy, which is NOT "Bears" football. But everybody knew that when they hired him. As painful as it is to see now, you obviously need to try running the offensive system that will eventually be in place to gauge who you should keep in that system and who you should let go and replace. In other words, it may get worse before it gets better with the goal being to be (much) better in the long run.If the Bears fire Martz now, that would make the Bears higher-ups look like idiots for: 1) hiring him based on the above implied agreement, 2) then firing him in spite of it, 3) having made roster changes for Martz (the trade of Greg Olsen comes to mind) that could set the team back years now that you canned the guy you made those changes for, and 4) effectively insuring that any future qualified candidates for the offensive coordinator position avoid the Bears like the plague. The best thing now is to just give Martz 2 or 3 more years with the players he wants and see what he can do.

Very good post and spot on. The Bears are stuck with Martz and will have to endure some adversity until they get the right personnel to succeed in Martz pass happy system. My guess is that Angelo has one foot on a banana peel and the other out the door. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

I would agree with you on any other team, but the Bears Front Office is so inept, that they are sitting on 19 Million dollars of cap space for the season...You think that they might have signed some lineman...

Each year Angelo tries to get another teams retreads, like Orlando Pace and Roy Williams and expect them to be in their prime. I was a very loud voice in bring Martz the the Bears, but the fact that he is as stuck on stupid as Lovie Smith is in making adjustments, this does not appear to be a good fit. The sooner the divorce the better, and if the Bears do not make the playoffs, he will be their human sacrifice, to save Smith & Angelo.

Don't expect Mike Martz to make any adjustments on offense as he believes in his system. The Bears are built for smash mouth football and not a finesse passing game. Martz had great offensive talent when he coached the Rams and had great success. Blame Angelo for not getting the kind of talent Martz needs to be successful.
