NFL  > Tennessee Titans  > Kerry Collins Who??
January 13, 2009, 10:08 AM
Kerry Collins I call a joke. But that is my opinion. He says he is done if they don't start him. Why would they start him? He is a joke. And Vince Young Time is now.
January 13, 2009  01:49 PM ET

Kerry Collins needs to head back to Carolina, they need him more than the Titans. Vince Young will win more games than he loses as a Titan. He is still very young, (came out of Texas as a junior) and has learned a lot this year. A defense has to account for Young on every play and opens up windows that even mediocre receivers can find and make plays. Tennessee needs playmakers and Vince Young is a weapon that should be turned loose. Keep Simms and Young and send Collins on his way.

Collins missed every single long route in the Ravens (fixed) game. More than a couple times he had receivers running open in the red zone, and he missed badly every time. Ship him out. He sucks.

January 19, 2009  08:25 PM ET

Ship Young out now, should've took Leinart to begin with....Who wants to babysit a guy your players don't believe in ??? He is a bust,at least trade him for a punter,Hentrich may retire.....

Vince Young is the joke!!!!! Collins may not be the long term solution for the Titans, but VY can't seem to escape his own head, which is stuck up his a$$!!

January 20, 2009  12:59 PM ET

Collins may not be the long term answer for the Titans, but VY can't seem to escape his head, which happens to be shoved up his a$$.

January 20, 2009  07:56 PM ET

???We expect 100 percent commitment from Vince, and we???ll accept nothing less than that,??? Fisher said.... But will Fisher give Vince 100 percent support this off-season, that is the question.....Vince has done everything that has been asked of him. He set out quietly, watching Kerry Collins lead his Titans to a one-and-done in the playoffs.
Vince Young wants to lead this team in 2009, But he needs Jeff Fisher to take away alll doubt by letting Vince know he the starting job is his to lose. Then. and only then, will you see what Vince Young can really do.

collins is a pro bowler ow, VY has hit rock bottom, keep Collins and grow Simms, just dump VC cut your losses on him and move on

January 21, 2009  01:41 AM ET

Collings is now a pro bowler who did more than enough to win the game aginst Bal. VC is done, dunp him now and cut your losses, keep Collins and Simms is a more than capible back up

January 23, 2009  01:07 PM ET

Well said, sportsguy93...Collins should be the guy in 2009 and Simms in 2010.

January 23, 2009  03:29 PM ET

See collins knows how to throw a pass and hit his target. I guess its onlt titans fans that believe vy is a joke. he has more ints then tds in his first two years. Yes he can win games, but they need someone to be consistent. Collins isn,t the long term solution, but lets look a t kurt warner. nobody seems to think he needs to go anywhere and hes around the same age. The titans need to draft or sign some good recievers. Collins has done well in the past, and he will help the titans this upcoming season. Dump Vy and get simms ready fo 2011

January 25, 2009  09:40 PM ET

If we can get a playmaking receiver this offseason such as Percy Harvin in the draft or TJ Houshmandzadeh in free agency then I would give the reins back to Young. I like Gage a lot and he is definitely a keeper but you really need to have two reliable receivers, especially for a QB like Vince. However, if this doesn't happen then I would give it back to Collins.

January 25, 2009  09:51 PM ET

If we can get a playmaker this offseason like Percy Harvin in the draft or TJ Houshmandzadeh in free agency, then I would give the job to Young. If we could get someone like this to compliment Gage and Scaife then I think that Vince would do just fine. However, if we can't make this happen then Collins needs to be signed to a 1 year contract and be the starter in 2009.

ur 100% right seeing that leinart is a hall of fame caliber QB

vy will be what he is, a great "athlete" trying to play QB. i dont see him "all of a sudden" learning how to read defenses and fitting the ball in the tight windows of the nfl.....gotta stick w/ collins for the time being. his head is already "off track" and im most certain the fact that simms is about to take his backup job isnt going to help it any

June 29, 2009  10:08 PM ET

KC is a joke??!! I wonder if you remember what happened when WE put VY in...?? Nothing-thats what. KC put the Titans on his shoulders and carried them to the play-offs..he's not a game manager anymore...he is a true starting QB..he's not the greatest that ever lived..I know..but compared to VY...he's much better...there will be no Vince Young time..he VY doesn't have the mental toughness to be a starting NFL QB..if KC wants to go somewhere else great for KC but he's not going to get "beat out" by VY

Keep Collins rolling this year. If Vince decides to step up this year....re-work his contract and give him a chance in the coming years. In the meantime you have to project and prepare for the future of the franchise. Kerry is 147 yrs old in NFL years and Vince has not shown that he "is" the future. Vince may still become great and it may even be with the Titans, but you have to prepare over the next year for the future.

This year will be telling. If Vince has another year like his previous ones look for the Titans to start shopping/drafting a QB in 2010. If he shows maturation and promise, expect the Titans to resign him and shop for another semi-veteran to back up Kerry & Co.

Vince does need to show toughness. But they long had no receivers for him to throw to. Now that they have talent at that position Kerry wants to start. I'm not sold on Collins because I thought that he was reckless at times during the playoff loss. I also think that teams will blitz him this season to make him move his feet and see how accurate he is then. Only time will tell if this team can put last season behind them and move on. I'm not sure they can.

No doubt that I think we overachieved last year. I will be pleased with 9-10 wins while fighting for division supremacy this year.

As far as Kerry. Yep, he's old and not fleet of foot. However teams tried to blitz all last year, but were often unsuccessful. The running game was so potent that it kept teams from committing massive blitzes. The smaller blitzes were picked up by the fantastic o-line. I expect the offense to be better this coming year, not worse.

The defense on the other hand? Big Al gone creates a ??? We could be fine w/o him and we may not be. We are less deep at CB which creates a ??? Finally our return game is a ??? Couple all these questionmarks with the tough schedule we have and you have a big ???

When was Kerry reckless during the playoff loss? His only pick was on a 3rd and long on a bomb, so it was pretty much like a punt. He threw for 250+ yards and his play is what kept us in the game after Johnson's injury. The reckless moments in that game came on the two fumbles, neither of which were Kerry's fault.

According to all reports, Kerry is stepping up as a leader in the locker room and working his butt off in camp. He's the least of our concerns. We need to hope our young receivers and D-lineman step up, and our secondary doesn't get torn apart by the potent passing offenses of the teams in our Division.
