NFL  > Dallas Cowboys  > Was Costa (Center) hearing voices...?
September 28, 2011, 12:26 PM
Read and heard in radio audio that Costa was being spoofed by the Redskins imitating the cadence/hike during the game. Has there been any data proving this to be a fact?

I think doing that is illegal and wondered if the NFL was engaging.

I have no doubt this goes on all the time and is most likely hard to enforce.

Why was Costa fooled so often?

Any facts on this?

Fair enough but I suspect this goes on all the time, like JD points out in her post Randle was the king of trash-talk, distraction, the eye-makeup, and an awesome rush. Why did Costa fall prey to this 4 freaking times? Is he that dumb? Deaf in one ear? A moron? Can you imagine the conversations in the Skin's defensive huddle after this worked the 2nd time? They must have **** themselves laughing on numbers 3 & 4!

QUOTE(#3):

The Cowboys have said they will complain to the NFL about the Redskins' tactics but like when Randle and many others did it some time ago there is little the NFL can do unless a game official hears it.

Not sure how the Refs can figure out who did/said anything. Maybe the Ref who used to monitor this was the guy they moved out of the spot between the linebackers? Wasn't that last year? Maybe it took the guys a year to figure out there is now no one in place to tell where the "noises" are coming from.

Granted my team dodged a bullet on this with Romo some how getting 4 good bounces but I don't want to see any Keystone Cops action (Dookies analogy) in any of my NFL football.
Hope this is not a trend in the NFL.

Heard this on ESPN 980 in DC driving home tonight.

Reporter talked to SHanahan and according to the Coach ALL centers are wired for sound by the NFL so the league can play back the audio for just this sort of thing. This sounds unbelievable and I am not sure this is true. Also if it is true would love to hear the audio of Romo SHOUTING at Costa throughout the game. Too funny.

In addition, Bowen (ex-Cowboy who Costa accused of knowing the cadence and being able to imitate Romo(WTF??) said that IF he was making the noises to imitate Romo how come ONLY Costa was the one fooled and no one else jumped offsides? Damn good question! D Free did have a false start but mo' definitely not four!

Bowen went on to add that he lost respect for Costa not sucking it up and trying to blame the other side for his buffoonery. Can't say I blame Bowen.
