MLB  > Atlanta Braves  > Has Frank Wren done enough?
January 14, 2009, 03:30 PM
There have been many of us here on FanNation that has been giving Frank Wren the business for weeks now. Whether or not it was his fault, the Braves failed to land Peavy. Whether or not it was his fault, the Braves have lost Smoltz (I could freaking cry at that one, folks). Up until the Derek Lowe signing, I would have given Wren an "F" for his off-season moves. In fact, his most "significant" move was Vazquez - and I'm not supremely confident about that one.

But within a week he has landed both Lowe and Kenshin Kawakami. That pretty much solidifies the starting rotation, but there are still WAY too many holes left unfilled for my comfort level. My questions to the panel:

1. Is this enough to get the Braves back in contention? If not, what else should Wren do? Another arm? A power hitter? Relief pitching?

2. Does Wren still get a "no confidence vote" from the ATL-faithful? Unless he pulls off a coup THIS week, I say yes.

Thoughts?
