NCAAF  > California Golden Bears  > CALIFORNIA HEAD COACH JEFF TEDFORD ON THE HOT SEAT
October 14, 2011, 01:04 AM
It is 10-13-11 the California Golden Bears just lost to USC 30-9. Cal has lost 8 straight games to USC and has only averaged 10 points per game during that stretch of time. In the last 2 games they have been outscored 92-9.

In this game Tedford remained his stubborn, dull, unimaginative self. His Quarterback was intercepted 3X and fumbled once as Cal had 5 turnovers. As lopsided as this score was, the defense did a fairly good job. In keeping this from being another 62-0 game like last year. You know Tedford is unimaginative because everyone in the Pac-12 knows what Tedford's game plan will be. The linebackers from USC were standing right in the passing lanes of Zack Maynards passes- that dull unimaginative. Tedford marked Maynard the starting QB for this season the moment Maynard transfered to Cal from Buffalo 2 years ago. He will keep starting Maynard , despite his inconsistency at completing passes, he is consistent on throwing interceptions though.

Bear Fans if you want to do the right thing and force Tedford out of Cal then boycott the remainder of the games. Make so the only Cal fans in attendance are the band and the card section. Maybe we can get the card section to send the message; TEFORD-YOU'RE- FIRED. In honor of breast cancer awareness, here's your pink slip.

10-13-11, Oh by the way , at this point in the season Cal is 3-3, 0-3 in the Pac- 12. Losing to Washington, Oregon, and USC. Lets hope no on invites them to a bowl game. Just to drive the message home to all Cal Alumni that Tedford must go!!!

Cal has 2 of the 4 highest paid employees by the University of California system - Tedford & Montgomery - and nothing to show for it, with Tedford being the highest paid employee.

How quickly we forget! It's easy for you whiners to sit back and criticize. But the fact remains that Jeff Tedford is the winningest coach in Cal football HISTORY! And he's done it with facilities a mediocre junior college would mock. If I'm a high school senior and my visits take me to Cal, Oregon, USC and Arizona State, it's going to take some serious convincing to get me to consider Cal. And enough with the "Cal" degree meaning something. Truth be known... the majority of these kids care about one thing and that's making it to the NFL. So why don't you zip it for a while until the renovation is complete and the playing field is level. Watch the kind of talent he can ink then. After that, if they don't challenge for a PAC 12 title, whine away.

10-31-11, Cal just played UCLA, They were beat 31-14, the degree of embarrassment is off the charts, Why? Because not only should Cal have won this game any other day of the week but in this game UCLA had 6 of there starting players suspended for this game. Tedford once again proved that he has a terrible road record. They are 4-4, 1-4 in the Pac-12 their only win was against Utah.

Winningest Coach- there is now a 12 game season, 3 of those games Cal usually schedules against teams that are really bad. Many of his games that he has won were against a Pac-10 that was very weak. He has piled on Bowl game wins in really meaningless bowl games. Last bowl game they played in was the Poinsettia Bowl against Utah, Cal had finished 5th in the Pac-10 and was expected to beat Utah but they really got embarrassed. Cal should have never been invited to that bowl game they were that bad, they did not make a bowl game last year and will not and should not be invited this year.

Tedford is overpaid and an underachiever. His apex came when Cal had a chance to become the #1 rated team in the nation yet they lost that game and have gone downhill ever since. They were rated twice in the top 20 preseason teams yet finished the year out of the top 25. Tedford took Cal to a certain level, but since then Tedford has become to predictable and gone down hill while other teams have hire new innovative minds and are leaving Cal behind.

Cal has recruited well the past 3 years, recruiting classes that rank in the top 20 nationally, Cal continues to have players drafted into the pros and many play on championship caliber teams. All this talent Cal has recruited and yet they don't play well under Tedford, Why? The call for Tedords resignation is getting louder each week.

I give Montgomery a little slack in that he hasn't been here that long. Cals basketball team this year is rated #2 in the Pac-12 in preseason polls. Cal has at least been invited to the NCAA and NIT playoffs. I will hold Montgomery accountable in 4 more years.

Let me also say that the majority of the outstanding players that have been recruited have been recruited by assistant coaches not Tedford. That is why RB's, DL, and LB's are usually the team standouts and not the QB's. Tedford got lucky in that he stumbled upon Aaron Rodgers, without Rodgers Teford would have been gone 3 years ago. He is his only shining star out of all the QB's he has recruited. Since then Tedford has gone steadily downhill. Rodgers--> Longshore---> Riley---> Maynard..

You know what? i made UC Berkeley an offer they chose to refuse. I told them I'd coach the team for 1/3 the cost and would not require a raise until I won the Rose Bowl or BCS National Championship.

I agree with what your saying except the part where it would take 'serious convincing' to get recruits.

Have you ever seen the ladies that go to that school? nuff said

So now Cal has a 100,000 sq. ft weight room and training facility, the most state of the art facility in the country, a new clean retrofitted Memorial Coliseum, the top academic public university in America all set in the beautiful confines of the Berkeley hills, what more could you ask for? Yes we can look at the long list of NFL players that once went to Cal. We now see those player flourish, many on championship teams. Cal has done a remarkable job at recruiting considering their records over the years. So why with all the talent it has attracted over the years has Cal not produced a Rose Bowl visit?
A training facility can improve the body but it can't teach football.
