The pass defense can't be blamed, sure its their fault, but with the Lions recievers, you're gonna have trouble.

They were really strained covering 3 different kinds of recievers.
The first is Roy Willias, an electrifying speed-type who you have to cushion cover.
The second is Calvin Johnson. A big huge fast reciever who you have to cover big on big or else you're gonna get burnt or outreached.
The last is the guy who really creates a mess. That guy is Mike Furrey. He stays low in the Flats to REALLY stretched the coverage because you have two deep on both sides, and one shallow, and then you have to worry about Tatum Bell running a screen opposite Furrey.
Then there is the tight end if he is in, and he'll go into the middel, preventing doubling Williams or Johnson.
We just got stretched so thin, and it didn't help that we couldn't get to the QB.

I was happy with the run defense, until the forth quarter, but in the other 3 they were doing well. Just condition a little better and the offense needs to not give up the ball like they did twice in a row in as many possessions, which really tired them out.

The offense made me happier than I have been with the Raiders since the Super Bowl. They controlled the ball, they could run, pass, and most importantly, and excitingly, BLOCK!!!!!!!!!
The O-Line blocked like we haven't seen them block for the past 4 years. They gave McCown alot of time to do his stuff, which made me exteremly happy.

LaMont Jordan restored all faith I had in him. I didn't want him on the team any more and now I love that he's there.
Tom Rathman, the RB Coach had to yell at him and had to literally push him onto the field once, but it only took the one time and now Jordan is playing like he did 2 years ago.

Now McCown is a different story. He had some ball control problems, and some decision problems. I thought Culpepper would start anyways, but McCown did throw the 2 TD's, more than either Brooks or Walter threw in one game last year.
Overall, I give them a C+, and the offense a B, defense a D.
Special teams...F-
I want Janikowski gone. I can't belive we wasted a first round pick on him. He never was good, and he never will be. I think its time to say "So long, Seabass." I wouldn't regret it.
Lets be fair to our pass defense.

I'm happy with most aspects of the game, despite the loss. Our offense relieved me so much, and the defense did average, which isn't a big deal, its the first game, and they'll warm up.

Overall, I'm relieved. Just relieved.
