NFL  > Green Bay Packers  > 5 Things the Packers need to work on !!
October 27, 2011, 04:03 PM
1. Pass Defense!

WHAT'S WRONG: The Packers are 31st in the NFL in passing yards allowed. Drew Brees and Cam Newton started the season by throwing for more than 400 yards each against Green Bay.

2. Pass Rush!

WHAT'S WRONG: Linebacker Clay Matthews is still getting near the quarterback, but his three sacks through seven games are a far cry from the 13.5 he had last season. The loss of defensive end Cullen Jenkins in free agency cannot be understated. Jenkins had seven sacks in 2010 and was the type of pass-rushing threat that kept offensive lines from double-teaming Matthews.

3. A Running Game!

WHAT'S WRONG:The Packers are 23rd in the league in rushing offense. Having Aaron Rodgers at quarterback significantly lessens the need for a top-notch running game, but James Starks and Ryan Grant have yet to be consistent.

4. Return Game (ST's) Mistakes.

WHAT'S WRONG: Wide receiver Randall Cobb fumbled a kick return in Week 2 and muffed a punt catch in Week 7.

5. Injuries!!!

WHAT'S WRONG: Though the Packers' injuries are nowhere near what they were last season, the 2011 Packers are a pretty banged-up group. Safety Nick Collins is out for the season with a neck injury, defensive end Mike Neal has yet to play with a bad knee, offensive tackle Chad Clifton is out with knee and hamstring injuries and linebacker Frank Zombo's shoulder healed just in time for him to hyperextend his knee. Linebacker Clay Matthews (quadriceps) and cornerback Charles Woodson (foot, knee) play but rarely practice.

A 7-0 record is pretty darn good and you think they have problems?

Not if they continue to wear themselves down, and lose to a team who is playing on all cylinders. Word around here is who cares about the record, just win the title.

QUOTE(#2):

I agree, 7-0 is perfection so far ,can they go undefeated ? of course they can, it's happened before, but, will they? i think not.

Ditto, but who cares. The title is what counts.

WHAT"S RIGHT:

7-0 sounds right to me. The Packers could be in the same boat as Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Miami, and several other perennial, or former perennial winners....They could have lost Rodgers much like the Colts lost Manning, or he could be playing much like Rivers....

Count your blessings.
