NFL  > Kansas City Chiefs  > Would you turn in your season tickets if Pioli hired Gruden?
January 16, 2009, 11:20 PM
I sure would... I couldn't cheer for that guy. A Raider in Arrowhead?? No way! Call me what you will, but I don't think I could deal with it... Once a raider, always a raider... gross.

I would welcome Gruden's no nonsense approach to the game, because I think that is exactly what some of Herman's pampered pets need! Anyone would be a better head coach than Herman Edwards!!! I e-mailed Lamar Hunt before Peterson hired Herman, and told him exactly what was going to happen if he allowed Peterson to Hire Herman Edwards. My prediction was right. He ran the Chiefs in the ground, just like he ran the N.Y. Jets in the ground. He is the worst Head Coach in the NFL! I will be amazed if he ever gets another Head Coaching job in the NFL. He can't even manage the game clock. His choice of Dick Curl as quarterback coach was a joke. His mindset that Brokie Croyle could be a starter at quarterback in the NFL, should merit getting him tossed to the curb like yesterdays trash! Pioli has to hire a new head coach!!!

Sure do... 4 seats. Had em for 14 seasons... 15th on the way! Not only is Gruden a raider... He has a losing record over the last 6 years. Since the 2002 season, when he won a superbowl with Tony Dungy's team, his teams are 43-50 with 2 trips to the playoffs and 0 wins. Yeah... He's great. None of his players like him, therefore they don't play for him. He can't keep a QB, and he hates rookies. Not a good for a rebuilding team. He's supposed to be a great offensive mind, but his teams are always better on defence. He doesn't get the job done...Period!

You know... its weird. I think Chiefs fans would have a hard time accepting Shanahan, but they would eventually welcome him because of his winning record and knowledge of the AFC West. We respect what he has done, despite cheering against him for 15 seasons.

I don't think Chiefs fans could ever accept Chuckie. We understand that he's won a ring, but he embodies something that Chiefs fans despise. Cockiness, hard headiness and ties to the Raiders = no way in KC for me. I don't know if I'd turn in my tickets, but I would certainly think very hard about it.

Just remember, there are two people out there that hate Al Davis worse then most chiefs fans do!? Shanahan and Gruden. Both have had the screws put to them by our ole pal AL! I don't care if the coach they bring in is black, white, green, balb, fat, skinny, ugly, pretty, old Raider or old Bronco, (AS LONG AS THEY TURN THE CHIEFS INTO WINNERS)! I just want a team of people that have the talent and team first mental make up that winning teams are made of.

awesome dude, just giving u a hard time...

lots of people are hard on gruden but teams could certainly do worse at the head coaching position. just because he was a former raider that shouldnt factor in to how u percieve him as a coach. so ur telling me that u woudlnt take any former raider players via free agency or what have u simply because their raiders?

as far as gruden winning the super bowl w/ "dungys'" players, every coach wins games with other coaches players for the most part whisenhunt is winning with denny greens players. same can be said for mike tomlin with the steelers most of the players on the roster are cowhers guys, i can go on and on and on.

"Once a Raider always a raider"? Seriously?! Oh my God get over it.

As a Bucs fan I ask, do the chiefs even have season tickets? Who could stand going to there games EVERY sunday, ew man. You guys need all the help you can get. Beggers cant be choosers.

It was ok because Marcus hated Al Davis at that point and was committed to becoming apart of our city. Plus, Marcus didn't fit the Raiders, he had class. We were happy to give him a new home away from the Raider Nation.

Obviously, you forget about 20 consecutive years of sell outs at Arrowhead or the fact that the Chiefs were in the playoffs almost every year in the 90's and twice in the 2000's (03 & 06). We are a proud franchise that had an owner that founded the AFL and Superbowl. We have a tradition of winning and unlike the Bucs, it stretches for all the way back to the sixties. Its always funny when a Bucs fan feels like he can bash other franchises. How quickly you forget your team's horrendous records. The Bucs were a laughing stock for years and held the NFL record for worst team ever until this years Detroit Lions came along. Man alive, we have two bad seasons and Bucs fans start calling us a pathetic franchise??? Look in the mirror and you'll see a tradition far worst than ours.

Shannahan? Gruden? Madden? All raiders. All superbowl coachs.

I think it is the other way around, the raiders get all the AFC left overs from the rest the teams.. not the other way around.

KC would be wise to wait until next year for coaches, Herm isn't that bad, the chiefs were late in games... KC blew some close games or their record would be completely different. Of course they always bring their A game when playing Denver, so frustrating.

He would be great for them his no bull attitude will take them to the playoffs like he did with Raiders & Tampa.

You should welcome your new Raider overlords.

Speaking of EX Raiders on the Chiefs staff.....you all know Art Shell, I'm sure of it. For several years he served as our Chief's O-Line coach....when we actually had an O-line that is. He is a fantastic position coach....I could handle Gruden, but not as the head coach....maybe the Off. Coord or something.....
