Derek Anderson....... really? After the home fans start cheering when he gets injured, doesn't that give you an idea he's not that effective? Draft a reciever and a quarterback next draft, then ship Al davis to Israel.

I have been a Raiders fan since 1979. I am a true fan I stick with my team no matter what. I am not like alot of these fake fans who hop from team to team depending on who is the best. Now as I recall Peyton Manning was not very good his first couple of years in the league. Russell improved during the end of the season. This was his first season as a starting QB so it is unfair to say that he is no good. Al Davis just needs to stay out of the waY. His son and wife need to step in. I think Russell will be fine with a good coach to keep working with him. Crabtree would be good for Russell because he can catch and run. I know the Raiders have had 6 years of bad runs but look at the Cardinals they are going to the superbowl.
Al Davis should get a GM and let the GM run football ops. Russell will be fine remember Peyton Manning was no good his first few years in the league. This is Russell`s first season as a starter. Crabtree would be great because he can catch. Unlike alot of other fake fans who team hop because of a team`s record I have been a Raider fan for 29 years through ups and downs.
Gruden return to Raiders?????????????????????
On the surface this is tasty, but can the team take this kind of carousel? What kind of chemistry would we get between Russell & gruden? Is Al ready to concede a portion of necessary control & maintain his player loyalties with a new/old crew returning or will there be history to overcome? Could this work with the combination of Trestman & Moss on the staff as coordinators?
I really want THIS team to go forward with it's progression, adding the likes of Crabtree &/or Nicks at WR, Laurinaitis &/or Freeman at LB, Granger at DT, free agent Peppers, Jason Smith or Okung at tackle spot, Johnson &/or Robinson at guard.
Can "Chucky" be our coach to this end? "Friends to the end"... or was that the end... "My friend"
They need to find a legit candidate for the HC position. Tom Cable didn't do a terrible job, and it seems like Al is very indifferent about who will coach the team and when he'll make a decision. I saw this morning that Al is now thinking about interviewing the linebackers coach for the job... whatever. In a way I do feel badly for the Raiders roster... a new coach every 1.5 seasons? That leaves a lot to be desired. Al is running his Pride and Poise into the ground. He needs to step back and let football people run things. Al was a great football mind, but that time has passed.
Ive been a raider fan all my life i know what is best for the team raiderfan1 has a good point peyton was pretty bad his first couple of seasons j-russ was getting good last games of the seasons....the raiders have one of the best run game now we got michael bush back and he demenstrated the raider nation he is the real deal.......i think they should keep Tom Cable he won 4 games and lost 8 he started better then Lane or Art.....RAIDERS have nothing wrong with there special teams, there d-fence is good,we need help with are widereceivers Chaz is a good receiver ronald curry is alright and javon has to get healthy so i think they should draft Crabtree...they got the one of the best tight end zach miller......
Stick with Cable. His play calling shows that he's open to innovation, and willing to push it in different directions. It shows both balls and an understanding of that crazy ass spirit that I miss.
Get a receiver that has some height, speed and hands. Even when one of our regular receivers catches just one healthy catch, it messes up the opponents defense so much, that they have a hard time adjusting.
Protect the QB with a couple new young OL's.
Keep McFadden healthy, keep Fargus running when we're at mid field (less red zone), probe with Bush (If their defense is confused by the way he runs, or can't handle his style...)
Block less & throw more for Miller.
Keep Johnny Lee on the return.
Get Russel throwing over 200 yards consistently (we know he can thread the needle with fierce speed, and air it out in majestic fashion); refresh the lines as much as we can, and **** with the minds of all who oppose us.
Rethink Recruitment: Look at the expensive duds at wide receiver and corner.
(Though I like the new corner, and our receivers look like they are catching on)
Al needs to balance morale, playmaking, and loyalty more strategically when putting his team together.
I know the Raiders have had 6 years of bad runs but look at the Cardinals they are going to the superbowl. (Raiderfan1)
Really? What the Cards have is a competent managerial machine to coach and provide FOOTBALL personnel. Arizona hired a good GM to build a team in 2000. 8 years later they play for all the marbles. Our Raiders just continue to rot from the inside, the real change needs to come from the top, you know it, I know it. Let's see if we can win 6 next year.

I think Cable could probably do the job. Thank goodness Rob Ryan is gone...his schemes are garbage. The Raiders showed that they can win with the games over Tampa and the Jets. Chris Johnson is the real deal opposite Asomugha. As long as Russell does "ok" and limits turnovers, the Raiders can win any game. The running game is solid and the defense is usually solid as well as long as they're not on the field very long the whole game. The Raiders need an OT, but if Crabtree is there @ #7, crazy Al will take him. They do need receivers that can get open, but they also need protection to be able to throw the ball.
Tweeder024, you should stick to what you know.......and that is what comes out of your mouth instead of your ass. You have no idea what your talking about. So shut up, and go comment on someone else's page. Stay the *&%$ off of Raider Nation...dumb ass
Get a quarterback thats IQ is bigger than his passing percentage:) I think the raiders have as much promise as anyone now in the AFC west... I am suprised with all the top draft picks that they have struggled so bad. They are still in the building phases, but I think the raiders have a good defense despite what people say, but they can't be on the field 80% of the game. I really think russell was a bust.. Stay focused on the O line for McFadden and Fargas, Get the Ball to Miller on some slants, Draft some WR's, and move to a run game...
Go Broncos!
hire a bright young coach like that lane kiffen kid, he knows what he is doing. oh, wait a minute...

The comments of J Russ relative to his improvements are on the right track. The league will begin to FEAR the Raiders once again when they develop a good line offensively and defensively and get at least one go to wide receiver. Russell's problem this past season had to do more with protection and the uncertainty of his receivers because he had very little problem hooking up with Zach Miller. Now this year, Russell will begin to show why he was drafted number 1 like Manning (as opposed to the busts in the past) because of Paul Hackett, ask Rich Gannon and Chad Pennington (This move will probably be the must significant off season move for the Raiders success - watch and see the difference!)
I've been a Raiderfan since 1971 and a true fan sticks by their team know matter what. but Al Davis has ruined this team. The game has passed him by and he nneds to realize this. I have a suggestion hire John Madden as the G.M. Al Davis is the reason we cannot get a coach no one wants to work for him. He has made some stupid draft picks and unless he gets out of there now. he will do the same. As far as I am concerned Bill Cowher would be the perfect fit bit he will not work for Al Davis.
Raiderglenn. Banning. Ca
Remember Plunkett? So many teams before the Raiders thought he was a bust, but how did that turn out? JaMarcus will be just fine, give him the protection he needs and the right coaches around him. Reciever, OT, DT and a competent back up QB can make this team the real deal again. I too am a life long Raider fan, and have suffered through all the bad seasons. but true fans stick around!!! Tom Cable is a competent head coach, minus the gadget plays. The football world will once again fear the Silver & Black soon. The Commitment To Excelence will once again be a true statment. Raider Nation '09!!!! Raider 4 Life!!!!!!!!!

The Raiders made great strides in the last 2 games of the season, they need to build on that. Their running game proved to be a 3-headed monster and Jamarcus is coming along just fine, let him use that cannon of an arm, get him a top notch WR. Hopefully they can focus on football next season, not BS.
Has anyone seen Deon Butler from PSU. He has the best hands of all the college WR's. Please use the #1 on an OT and pick up Butler in the 3rd or 4th round.

trade justin fargas for either boldin or burress! then draft an o-line in the first round! draft a wideout in the third round! sign albert haynesworth! release javon walker and ashlie lelie! i'm ok with cable for one more season either he does or he doesn't because 2010 is when the cowhers and the shotty's will be available! russell will be fine if you watched last season how many balls did curry, walker, and lelie drop? fitzgerald made warner look like a hall of famer last year! and last blitz the quarterback on defense get aggressive!
