NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > PENN STATE: SHOULD THE UNIVERSITY CONDUCT THEIR OWN INVESTIGATION OR SHOULD IT BE AN INDEPENDENT ONE
November 9, 2011, 11:09 PM
It was announced in the press conference that a board of trustees special committee will conduct an investigation.
Given all the allegations in regard to multiple cover ups will there be an issue of public trust with any findings from the inquire.
I guess a good question for this Message board would be:
Will you trust a report given to you by an institution who allegedly was able to keep this alleged crime under wrap for such a long time.
Would of not be better to have this investigation conducted by an independent committee.
This firing of Joe Paterno was the right thing to do, would you agree with that.
Just asking, thank you for your awnser.

QUOTE(#2):

The U.S. Department of Education is weighing in on the Penn State scandal. That's pretty heavy if the Feds are investigating as well.

Did not know that thanks for the info..but they should still do an independent one rather than their own..

"The university has a culture that instills bias and tunnel vision in decision making." - page 37 of the Special Commission's report on the Texas A&M bonfire tragedy which killed 12 and injured 27. I have no doubt the bonfire would still be in existence today if the investigation was internal.

An independent investigation at PSU is the only way to ensure all factors, including cultural factors, are explored. An insular university culture steeped in tradition does not lend itself to seeking and identifying all of the contributing factors to this tragedy.
