I have as well, but let us not forget the Curtain those boys were vicious much like the present team. In all fairness to the current group we have lets not be so quick to dub them best of all time, until they can string a couple more seasons and collect O maybe 2 or 3 more SBs on the way.

Ya gotta find an awesome nickname for them too.
I may be confused, but weren't these mostly the same guys dubbed the "Big Nasty D" over the past couple years? That's what I call them. I agree with Yawdman too, let's not be so quick to judge. They need rings. Granted, I LOVE what they've done, but I feel like in my relatively short lifetime I've seen stingier, more oppressive defenses (The Greene, Lloyd, Browne era comes to mind, though they never got a ring)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been calling these guys the "Big Nasty D". And I would withhold judgement for the time being, history has a way of sorting these things out. It does however seem to me that in my short <30 yr life span I saw more intimidating D (IMO) from the Burgh, that being the Lloyd, Greene, Browne era of the mid nineties, though I don't know offhand what they did statistically and they never won a ring. Nonetheless, I love seeing the hard hits and stifling of offenses we see of late. GO STEELERS!
Sorry, I thought my first one didn't post b/c I wasn't logged in.
haha definitely these guys are pretty violent too. Ryan Clark has had some of the most bone chilling hits ive seen in a while
I'll let ya know about 10 PM on Feb. 1.... :) GO STEELERS!!!
That is a tough question. There are so many to choose from.It is probably the 76 defence, five shutouts and the lowest points per game average. If all three of the running backs did not get hurt they would have won another Lombardi.
The 1976 Steelers defense is the best of all time, let alone the best Steelers D. They pitched five shutouts in the last eight regular season games, and gave up a total of 28 points over the final nine regular season games. Throw in the 14 points the Baltimore Colts scored in the first round of the playoffs, and thats an average of 4.2 points per game over a ten game stretch. They lost to a very good Raiders team in the championship game when their top three running backs (Franco Harris, Rocky Bleier and Frenchy Fuqua) were unable to play, allowing the Raiders to control the game easily. No other defense can carry their jocks. One final point--the Steelers had to start a rookie, Mike Kruczek, for six games during that stretch due to an injury to Bradshaw.

Hands down the Baltimore Raven defense from 2000 was the best! The Ravens have not allowed a 100 yard rusher in over 3 seasons!! Run on the Ravens huh! pack a lunch its going to be a looooooonnngggggg day. Just ask Eddie George how he did trying to run on the Ravens, he could not do it so he retired!
what's all this "steelers best team of all time" and "steelers best defense of all time?" what a joke. no way can anyone prove these claims. there have been outstanding teams for decades, including bears, pats, 49ers, cowboys, ect. the list goes on and on. why do the steeler fans constantly think their team walks on water. wake up and smell the coffee dudes!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. That defense was simply incredible.

It's a message board assmunch. And the guy is simply asking Steeler fans who he thinks the best Steeler defense is, but I guess actually reading the title is just a little too much for your sorry excuse for a brain to comprehend.

oh.. so tough aren't you. you fans are pathetic! by far the most arrogant individuals on the planet. and for what? you guys barely beat the titans last nite at home in your opener. you steeler fans need your own "steeler fannation" cause none of you have the most basic skills to communicate with anyone that is not a steeler fan. you idiot!!!!!!!!!
The steelers in my opinion have built there team around defense so it would be hard to rate the best defense all there championships have come from defense

Sorry.....we're into REAL FOOTBALL.....not the kind that needs to be dressed-up with cheerleaders, to keep their "fans" entertained.

hey... no arguement here on my cowboys. they've stunk it up the last few yrs and we all keep waiting for jerry to fix it... anyone got a snickers bar? at least we will be able to see the cheerleaders upclose on that jumbo screen jerry built - we need something to entertain us since our team hasn't lately.
