NBA  > General NBA  > Chris Mannix-Inside the NBA
January 22, 2009, 03:09 PM
Call me crazy.......but where does Chris Mannix get off in the most recent SI issue by stating rather emphatically that OJ Mayo is listed at 6'5" but is closer to 6'2".............and the other rookie highlighted, kevin Love he states is 6'8" and maybe shorter?

The last I remember is close to 20 or so years ago [or longer] the NBA instituted a pre-draft camp [normally Chicago] where all players to be considered for the draft of any consequence had to be weighed and measured.

Many colleges can "pad" those stats all they want; but when it comes to paying salaries to players; every team is owed accurate stats before opening their checkbook.

OJ Mayo is listed at 6'4" and Kevin Love 6'10" everywhere including NBA.com

Also; where does Chris Mannix come from that he can call one of his columns "Scout's Take"? PLUS.....his "scouting" take on Love is ill informed, AT BEST......IF Love played as many minutes as Mayo, let's say; he'd average 17 Rebs, 17 Pts, 1 blk, 1 stl. and 2 1/2 assts while shooting 42% FG [granted, not great] and 75% FT
...........AND not committing dumb fouls.
