NCAAF  > General NCAAF  > CFB fans, repeat after me: WE NEED A PLAYOFF...
November 20, 2011, 04:28 PM
... preferably one we could watch streaming on our macs and PCs. But I digress.

The huge upsets from this weekend are proof we need a playoff.

Back in 2007, when a two-lossLSU got to play in the NCG, Les Miles said his team was "undefeated in regulation." Well, this year, Oregon is undefeated in the 4th quarter. They beat LSU 14-10, USC 15-0, and everybody else 10,000-3. If LSU can make the claim back then, why not Oregon this year?

We need a playoff!

While the rest of CFB was playing football this weekend, the vaunted SEC was at home, staging pillow fights and beauty makeovers with FCS teams like Citadel, Furman, Georgia Southern and Ole Miss.

Worse, the FCS teams hung with the SEC teams! Who scored the most points on that Alabama defense this entire season? Georgia Southern! If Georgia Southern can hang with Alabama, doesn't that mean they deserve a shot at LSU as well? But the BCS won't allow Georgia Southern to face LSU.

Is this fair? Of course not!

We need a playoff!

The BCS computers know what mere humans are unwilling to admit: the best football is played in the Big12. Sure, Oklahoma State lost to 6-5 Iowa State, but if Iowa State played in the SEC, they'd be undefeated! So really, Oklahoma State lost to an undefeated team, just like Alabama did.

The BCS computers know this, and computers are much smarter than people. Don't believe me? Your iPhone is a computer, and your girlfriend is a human. Which one do you trust to tell you today's football scores correctly?

We need a playoff!

Yesterday, Michigan beat Nebraska. Check that--they demolished Nebraska. By all accounts, the 1971 Nebraska team, undefeated back-to-back national champions, is the greatest CFB team ever.

And Michigan just hammered them. If Michigan can beat the greatest football team ever, surely they deserve a chance to play for the national championship. But the idiotic BCS computers don't see it that way. These things should be decided on the field, not by some nerdy programmer.

We need a playoff!

Disagree? Bring the pain!

Darn good arguments. Voting left.

Preferably a playoff that extends into 2012, so USC can participate.

Just like Oregon.

This is tiring. How the heck did the Table ever get to a zillion posts?

Maybe DoIt4Johnny will come out of retirement and post about Banana Slugs here

November 20, 2011  05:37 PM ET

Hey, aren't they the "Fighting" Banana Slugs?

Congrats, UB. You made it!

I've never seen a loss by 24 described as hanging with a team, but I guess we can make that claim if we want to.... **shrug**.

Really Joe? I thought the "but if Iowa State played in the SEC, they'd be undefeated!" part would have caught your eye first.

When they score more points than any other team and put up 300 yards on the ground and they play in the FCS, that is hanging around.

I found the Ole Mis being an FCS team part the funniest myself.

They just hating....

I've stated this in other threads....

All the love everyone gave to BSU, TCU and Utah and them deserving to be in the NCG and who they played didn't matter as they beat everyone badly, etc, etc, etc...

And now, I'm hearing that Houston doesn't deserve to be considered since they haven't played a top 50 defense yet.

Does anyone else see the discrepancy here from the vaunted BSU lovers? How can BUS, playing in the WAC (which is a step above HS 6A), be thought of being awesome and Houston not????

UB...so what's your playoff proposal?
