NFL  > Dallas Cowboys  > Why isn't Shanahan Getting Skewered...
November 21, 2011, 11:46 AM
Sure seems like no one wants to hold Mike Shanahan accountable for that stupid "Freeze The Kicker" timeout he called in overtime. He obviously wasn't watching what was happening on the field, where the Cowboys were a complete mess and Romo freaked out and tried to call a time out that he didn't have!!!

I guarantee you... had Shanahan not called that time out and the Cowboys had received a 15 yard Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty, we would all be skewering Romo!

True on the Romo thing Otis; recall it was 3rd down so Romo would have gone back under center to get some of the 15 yrds back. THEN it would have been 4th down and the kick. Assuming Romo didn't throw another TD on 3rd down and add to his mystique.....
<dreaming>

For you conspiracy theorists, Shanahan is good buddies with Jerry Jones....he knows the 'Skins aren't going anywhere, so why not let the 'Boys have it? Without actually "throwing the game"?

Hahahahaha.......wonder who will dispute this?

Otis, you're on top of that one! Shanahan saved Romo, but it also shows Romo's actions during crunch time. Romo should have been aware of the situation. Again, great call Otis!

Romo is certainly no Tom Brady. Not even half of a Brady.

That's my problem with the scenario...

Take the 5 yard delay of game penalty!

After next years draft or free agency Shanahan will have his QB. He is still rebuilding. But someone should ask him if his offensive coordinator is really NFL worthy.

Ha! There is definitely an issue there with his OC. He gets no free-pass with his Owner either. Shanny must really need the money to put up with those working conditions

As for the skewers...they still had meat on them so Haynesworth grabbed them on his way out the door.

shanahan DID save romo's horrible call.... preventing another potential romo error when the game's on the line. but romo did play a good game overall. hard to believe the skins have lost their last 6 games.... was dallas playing to the skins level or was washington playing to the the cowboy's level? starting to look like buffalo wasn't "for real" and the miami game could be a tougher game than it looked like a few weeks ago. glad it's in dallas!

No chance of snow or Leon Lett being on the field so we should see a W.

It would have made the kick longer but with the way Bailey has been kicking, I think we still would have made it.

Lots of credit to Tony though...2 of his biggest passes of the day were both on broken protection and him spinning to the left only to hit Witten for that long TD and the other hitting Dez Bryant for that huge 1st down to set up the Field Goal to win it.

Murray had some "tough" yards against the Skins and I just love this kids mettle...he motor does not stop.

I think Leon helps with DL coaching at Dallas, not a real coordinator, sort of just an assistant to an assistant.

1993.

I worked all night and got home at 9:00 AM to a nice crisp morning. Went to sleep and woke up around 4:15PM. Turned on the TV and saw THAT... looked out my window and everything was covered in ice with more falling.

Damned surreal...

BTW Otis...when Romo called the Timeout, had Shanny not called his, Dallas would have been assessed a delay of game penalty.

You only get the 15 yard penalty on back to back timeouts called.

It's Otis P. Driftwood. With a P.

What should I expect from a Cowboys fan.
