MLB  > General MLB  > 2012 HOF Selections

It's December and aqnother month will be an announcement for those players being ensrined into the Baseball HOF in Cooperstown, NY.

First, on the Veterans committee, I would select Jim Kaat, Gil Hodges (long overdue) and Ron Santo.

Now to new inductees. I do not think this person is a first or a 2nd year HOF but he is right on the bubble or border as a HOF'er--- Bernie Williams
Career: 287 HR, .297 BA, 1257 RBI, CF, 5xAllStar, 4xGG

Check out baseball reference that rates and gives value to all the statistics
"96 ALCS MVP, Silver Slugger '02

The other one that should make it is Barry Larkin.

Your thoughts.

Wow - i would not have guessed Williams stats as quite that good. This will sound strange but he had a very"quiet" yet excellent career.

And don't forget Bernie Williams was the 1998 A.L. batting champ.

"Quiet" is the best way to describe Bernie Williams , both his demeanor and career. I think he's definitely a Hall-of-Famer. Not first-ballot; it may take until the last years of his eligibility to be voted in by the writers. But I think you'll see his percentage increase each year as his career and contribution to those championship teams becomes more appreciated. He'll get voted in "quietly" ;)

In Bernies case it may take some behind the scenes lobbying by ex team mates , coaches etc to get his case better appreciated

Once again the committe effed up. Luis Tiant rejected!! You would think a guy who has more shutouts than 46 HOF members, who has more wins and a higher winning percentage than 26 HOF members would get more consideration.
