NBA  > General NBA  > Who would you start a team with: John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash?
January 6, 2012, 12:01 PM
First off, I???m throwing out Jason Kidd, I???m close enough to Dallas to remember what he was like during his first tour of Dallas, plus as much as I love his drive and rebounding, his shoddy shooting and defense would likely kill my young franchise.

Next off, If I take Nash, I have a leader- and a guy that won???t leave for a huge market first chance he gets, plus wants to make everyone better, plus sells at the box office.
If I take Stockton, I get all that, and a better player. Stockton isn???t the jersey seller Nash is, plus he???s gonna be a BEAR to do things in the offseason.
The final tiebreak is I???m not sure anyone is going to lineup to play with Stockton, but they will Nash. If I want to bring Grant Hill or Shane Battier to my team, Nash is the better ambassador.

One game to save my life? Stockton.
To start a franchise? Nash

You said you wouldnt take Kidd bc of his "shoddy" defense...Classic i guess you dont have to worry about shoddy defense with Nash since he has ZERO defense....lol

Id take kidd in a heartbeat over Nash....

Nash is a better offensive player tha Stockton. I give JS the edge in consistency, but Nash had a better, longer peak. Hell he is 38 and still in his peak. JS seemed to be very good to great every year of his career. But Nash's best year are better by a lot. He has two MVPs. I don't care what you want to say about them. Stockton has zero. Nash has had some amazing years. If he had a short peak I would go with JS, but Nash has been great long enough his overall career has surpassed one of my all-time favorite athletes in John Stockton.

And who is the idiot that would even include Jason Kidd in the discussion? He is not as good at anything as either guy. Stockton and Nash are two of the NBAs best players of all-time. Kidd was very good for a decade and a half. It does not compare. Magic belongs in the discussion. Nobody else in my life (30 years) is even in the conversation of best all time PG.

John Stockton was the greatest point guard ever. Earvin Johnson is the most overrated player ever.Kevin Johnson was better than Earvin Johnson.
