NFL  > General NFL  > Illegal hits my eye

Steelers lost. Got it. Accept it. They played too confident. Had their head up their butts and half their starters on the sideline most of the game. Got it.

But still, where in the hell were the referees that was supposed to be watching each receiver. They seemed to be present with all the yellow they gave Ike Taylor, (who by the way could not cover a kitchen table with two tablecloths and a roll of plastic), however, where were they when DJ Williams hit Cotchery helmet to helmet?

No flag, hell not even a mention of illegal hit. Cotch bounced straight up and went to the huddle but still the hit was a direct violation of what the NFL has so mightily busted Harrison for all year.

There are no highlight reels available for me to post or I would, but I know I was not DREAMING when Williams dropped his head and hit Crotchery helmet to helmet on a tackle mid 2nd quarter (not 100% on game time).

Later, he hit Johnson on a crossing route, and even tho it WAS NOT helmet to helmet it still violated the intent of the "unprotected receiver" rule. Still, no flag or penalty and even today no mention of either hit.

Anyone that recorded the game last night, if you can go back and find the clip I would appreciate it even tho I know the NFL will do everything in its power to not let it get posted to Youtube.

Just because everyone was caught up in the Tebow hype last night way too many other things went flagrantly aside.

And it was not just, bad calls going the wrong way. At least twice I noticed uncalled Face Mask penalties against that should have went AGAINST the Steelers.

The backwards pass from Ben to Wallace was totally blown.

So all in all, I was disgusted by the entire game's officiating. For a playoff game it was horrendous to say the least.

But the bottom line is equality on the illegal hits that SHOULD have drawn fines from the league and NOT ONE SINGLE FRIGGING word about them have been mentioned.

Totally BS.

But we still see a post where Harrison hits a receiver that has to leave the game....

As your shrink let me tell you, all the denial and excuses are not going to change the score.

maybe you did not read my opening lines, don't care about the score. That part is over, finite....just do the right thing and fine the **** that made the hits....

The officiating was pretty bad HeeHaw I agree. On both sides of the ball as you stated.

It will be interesting to see if there's a fine on that helmet to helmet hit.

Is there ever a game in which someone isn't complaining about the officiating. The team that got ripped off the most was Detroit, the ref blew an early whistle during the Drew Brees fumble ( with 5;39 left in the first half) if that whistle would not have been blown Detroit would have been returned it for a TD putting Detroit up 21-7, yet I don't hear any Detroit fans harping on it.

I don't think anyone is saying that the officiating cost the Steelers the game. And BTW, there was one of those early whistle calls in Den vs Pitt too.

Sour grapes in my opinion.

Another no call on a Steeler's defender grabbing Tebow's face mask. Enough with the excused Steelers fans, the Broncos were screwed by the refs much more than the Steelers, remember the backwards pass that was ruled incomplete when it should have been Denver ball in the red zone, and Pitt scored later in the drive? And they were dealing with injuries too.

The team that played the better game won. Bottom line. Give credit where it is due.

My bad, didn't read the last half of the post until I already posted.
