The Oakland Raiders today fired Hugh Jackson.

This makes no sense to me, but I am sure that they have better info on the situation than I do.

There is a T&R thread on this today. Not surprised. I posted that the Raiders would mess this up and sure enough!

The new GM likely has his own coach in mind.

They can't blame it on Al Davis now, can they?

Agreed and one of reasons why McKenzie took the Oakland job say over the same position the Bears were offering up, Phillips mentioned one stipulation the Bears G.M. would have is that Lovie is the coach for the 2012 season. A term I imagine several qualified candidates will take a hard look at if considering the Bears G.M. vacancy, another Phillips mistake IMO.

Well Bull...did YOU see him in the coffin? Maybe he's like Elvis. Someone will see him eventually. LOL!

Isn't it Hue Jackson?

Just sayin'.

As a Raider fan, I feel like if this is what McKenzie needs to do then so be it. Rumor has it that Jackson had a clause in his contract that he only needed to report to Mark Davis and if he was unwilling to renegotiate that aspect then he should be gone. He was getting very power hungry and egotistical since Davis died and the players weren't too impressed by it nor his penchant for throwing players under the bus.

Overall, a new regime has been needed in Oakland for quite some time. It's happening and will be more consistent from here on out. I'm excited for the future of the Raiders.

Agreed I think the future looks good.

But he may need to really clean house if you want true change. Get the dead beats out of there like Gruden did and get the team winning again.

The last part should be easier than ever with Al gone and not imposing his 'bombs away' mentality.

If only Jerry Jones would join Al. LOL!

Lets not forget that Hue backstabbed Tom Gable to become the HC.

I think there are more changes coming for sure. And oddly, I don't view any of it as bad. Sure, we may be set back next year as the team adjusts to these changes, but if the end result is a more well run organization and a more disciplined team then I'm all for it.

Exactly. I've heard rumors of it possibly being GB's offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, but he's also been linked to a few other coaching jobs. And I think it makes sense Hue got the axe - not only because McKenzie wants to bring in his own HC - but because somebody had to pay for that Carson Palmer trade...why not the guy responsible?

I'd heard rumors of Winston Moss, another former Raider and current LB coach for the Packers. We shall see. I don't know how I'm going to wait until 2pm...
