C wins it with 27 points. Nice call on Prater C.

I come in 2nd with 22.5 points. (not to be a sore loser but if Yamasaki wasn't an idiot I win)

Yoda finishes in 3rd with 22 points.

UH comes in 4th with 18 points.

And Lanzo rounds it out with 8.5 points.

Better participation than last event but this is embarrassing.

Prater/Silva certainly did go as I thought it would.

I think they need to stop all this replay BS and just let them have an immediate rematch.

Not sure how I missed that typo, fixed now.

Forgot, there is no bold in quotes.

I'm hereby filing an official appeal on this Pick-'em.

Yamasaki owes me 3 bills. Surprised he didn't DQ Aldo after the fight for holding the fence. Guess he only has half a deathwish.

I don't think an appeal would do any good. There were at least 2 illegal strikes for sure, unquestionably.

Everyone wants this to be reviewed, appealed, overturned, ext. What will they find? Is the UFC going to say ,"Well, there were definitely 2 illegal ones, but those weren't the ones that count. Those other ones were better, those are the ones that we think ended the fight. W for Silva."

There is no case for this to be overturned. Just because there is a precedent where we often turn a blind eye to these strikes in this situation (swarming on a hurt/turtling fighter).

I will most likely be overturned to a No Contest if the kid appeals it, which I think he obviously will.

On what grounds though? I just don't see a good case for as to why this should be overturned.

I went 8-2. I just forgot to put my picks here. Should've been 9-1 but Yamasaki is a moron.

Fight was already over. The 1 shot I saw him land to the back of the head was no deliberate. Accidental blow. The fight is a no contest.

I don't know.

After I rewatched the fight, I thought it was at least 4-6 illegal shots. Two of the first hammerfists, a few in the middle strayed a few inches behind the ear, which under the technical definition is the back of the head, then the last one that is really obvious.

BTW, I misread your comment, a NC seems kind of plausable, but I don't see this being overturned into a W for Silva. A No Contest seems like what should happen to me.

QUOTE(#14):

I didn't think the shots were bad at all. I've seen much worse not called. Yeah a NC only seems likely because there was no sanctioning commission over in Brazil, and the UFC would actually handle the appeal. Considering they gave him a win bonus I think it would be overturned.

There were several that were pretty clear to me that they were to the back of the head/neck.

And I agree, we have seen much worse go uncalled, but that doesn't make it right.

Yamasaki is one of the better referees in the game, probably better than Herb Dean. He saw a few early in the storm, warned him, and then when the final hammerfist was clearly to the back of the head, he made a decision that I frankly can't disagree with.

I don't think he blew that call. I think he made a judgement call that could have gone either way, and he showed decisiveness and some brass marbles to make it the way he did in Rio.

Yamasaki has made FAR more bad calls and no calls that have had significant impact on the outcome of fights than just about anyone else...maybe Yves Lavigne could give him a run for his money as worst ref in major MMA...

Dan Mirgliotta's reffing in the Belfort/Johnson fight was worse than Yamasaki's call.

Herb Dean stopped the Fedor fight earlier than he needed to. He also commited that atrocity of a stand up in the Cro Cop/Gonzaga fight.

Like I said, they all make mistakes, but time and time again Mario delivers solid performances.

Who do you think is a better referee than him? I'm not saying he is the best, I'm just curious as to who you would argue over him.

The Fedor vs Hendo fight that is.

QUOTE(#19):

Josh Rosenthal.

Rosenthal is my favorite as well.

People criticize his late stoppages, but dam if he doesn't do a great job of watching to see if fighters are still working, ext.

The most often thing that is cited is the Lesnar Carwin fight, but I think that an even better example is the Shogun vs Hendo. That could have been a TKO in the second for Dan, and no one would have really complained. Thanks to Josh, we saw instead possibly the greatest fight ever.
