First and foremost, I like your idea of Leinart. Unfortulantly, it won't work for two reasons: 1. Larry Johnson's contract is near unmovable. Carl Peterson gave him the franchise's richest contract in history and Arizona doesn't have the cap room. LJ has said that he wants to be traded, so I'm sure Pioli would love to deal him if LJ agrees to pay back money (I doubt that will happen). 2. Arizona really likes Leinart. He is their QB of the future and they spent a top 10 draft pick on him. I think it would cost the Chiefs more than a broken down LJ to obtain Leinart, but I could be wrong.
As for the Curry pick... Its a nice idea, but I think the Chiefs are reaching at #3 by taking a linebacker. I know he's a nice player at a position of need, but I think there are other players that can become the core of this team for the next 10 - 15 seasons. Personally speaking, I would like to see them draft Eugene Monroe OT Virgina. Monroe would line-up at LT, Albert would move to LG and Waters would move to Center. Monroe and Albert were teamates in college and played these positions before. They would add excellent consistency to the the quarterback's blind side. This leaves a hole at RG and RT. I think we all will agree that Jordan Gross should be one of the Chiefs' top free agent priorities to shore up that right side.
Key Free agency additions: (personnel in place on Defense best fits a 4-3. Dorsey and Hali are too small for 3-4 this year. The addition of Suggs would make a switch to the 3-4 possible down the road.)
QB: Jeff Garcia (one year deal to get the Chiefs by until next year's senior laden draft)
WR: Shaun McDonald
RT: Jordan Gross
DE: Terrell Suggs
LB: Karlos Dansby (I have to believe he will want to resign with Arizona.)
CB: Dunta Robinson
Draft Needs:
1. LT
2. HB
3. RG
I definatly can see where your coming from with the Leinart situation and it was a reach but as a Chiefs fan were always dreamers. I could see Jeff Garcia, but if its not Tyler Thigpen and we dont draft a QB and look at another option I see no reason not to go with Quinn Gray. The guys a gamer and could get us by for a year if were goin to wait for the next draft. I agree that its going to be tough to trade Johnson but its going to happen. I like Suggs but I like Peppers better. Though Suggs would be with us longer as he is younger. We will switch to the 3-4 next season and as professionals the personel will adapt.
I agree that we need some help at LG but i dont think were moving Albert. He gives us the most athletic and steady prescence at that position. I like us adding a LG and Gross will make our O-line sured up. Drafting a HB and a QB would atleast be good options, but i still like Curry as our first pick.

Quinn Gray is not a starting QB in the league. There is a reason why he was available in the middle of last season. I seriously doubt that he will be on our roster next season since he's an unrestricted free agent.
I think Thigpin should be given an opportunity to compete with a veteran like Garcia. I don't think he's our QB of the future and frankly I believe that he will be a career back-up. That being said, a Garcia signing would make Thigpin better, while giving the Chiefs an insurance policy. Thigpin would be given one last chance to improve and show the Chiefs whether or not he's a good back up or a starter. Normally, I wouldn't allow that possibility, but there aren't any rookie QB's worth drafting... so they might as well build an offensive line for the future, give them time to mature and then select a QB next season when guys like Bradford, Tebow, McCoy and others finally come out.
