I agree on the Sonnen fight, he will run roughshod all over Bisping. We all know his achilles heel, and it surely isn't a point striker.
As for Weidman/Maia, I know your a big Weidman fan but I think he is running into a brick wall. Maia is probably a better striker at this point, and his BJJ is for sure way better. Wrestling is where Chris really shines, and I think it will carry him to a long and prosperous career in the UFC. Against Maia however, I don't think he has the defensive chops to survive on the ground. Weidman is good, but I think he is just stepping into to deep in this fight.
Hey, he may prove me wrong and this may be his coming out party, but I see this fight as being Demians to lose.
Sonnen all the way. Lets remember that he trains with Hendo, who knocked Bispricks head off.
The real question is...can Maia take Weidman down? I think if Weidman wants to keep it standing, he can. If so, who is the better striker at this point? I think it is probably pretty even. I am guessing this will be three rounds standing and probably pretty boring with Maia getting the edge in striking slightly.
Why the Weidman hate? He trains out of Serras camp, and Ray Luongo is an EXCELLENT striking coach. I have actually met him a few times, nice guy too. Weidman all night.

I agree with you. Sonnen should have this one in the bags. Although I was looking to watch Munoz and Sonnen fight to determine who fights the spider. I don't see Weidman beating Mia either. I just see Mia the more proven fighter with better experience.
If forgot about that match in ADCC, was definitly a classic.
That said, Maia is still better in No-Gi than Galvao, let alone in MMA. And Jacare and Roger are on another plane still.
Let us not read too much into a good performance against the 2009 Galvao (who wasn't nearly as good as the Galvao that won both the 88kg and absolutes last year) in a match where he failed to score a point in half of the match.
I think Chris is good, but I just don't see him besting Demian just yet. As I said before, I may be wrong, but right now, I think this is Maia's fight.
QUOTE(#17):
Don't forget that was about 2.5 years ago. Weidman's ceiling is very high and has soaked up a ton since then. The only way I see Maia winning is by subbing Weidman and I just don't think it will happen. But, hey, we'll see in 9 days.
That is the great thing about MMA, we should be able to find in a few days.
I will tender one more thing, I would love to see this be a ground fight, no matter who wins. I like a striking battle, but with guys like this I would rather see their world class grappling more than their decent level striking.
I can't wait to hear the trash talk for this one.
I hope, and expect Sonnen dominates Bisping.
I'll be picking Weidman, but could easily see Maia winning.
