Why not?

Because Kobe does not have 5 years of playing at the level to score 24+ points left in him, at least not for 82 games. His body is already showing signs of wear too as his knee has had multiple surgeries. He may have 2 maybe 3 years where he can play hard enough to score that much and play a full season...... but not 5 years. His contract ends in 3 yrs and I can see him considering retirement.

10000 points away or so. I think he can pass MJ and Wilt, but malone and kareem just seem too far ahead. Even if hes able to play another 6 seasons he'd need about 1630 points per season to pass kareem. Its not impossible but if winning is the most important thing to kobe (and im sure it is) I think in the last 3 or so years of his career he becomes more about distributions than putting up 25 a night.
