Mods seem to have all split.

They are no forfeited turns anymore on TDs, no matter how long, even months in some cases.

Forums are kind of dead, but the spam hasn't been too bad on the MMA board.

There are only about 5 or 6 of us who remain active, but things are picking up again.

How is life been treating you? Still in Spain?

Hahaha good stuff...football fans think they know about MMA because they've seen a few commercials! Before long they'll be telling us about the classis fights from 2011 or 2012....thats only about 3 years away until they think they're the long time fans.

I'll put it right here, GSP yesterday was interviewed by UFC Tonight, show....

St-Pierre, meanwhile, told

UFC Tonight

he would relinquish his belt to fight Diaz despite plans for a fight with Condit.

Come on now my friend, we need warm bodies to diversify the boards. I was super excited when you started occasionally posting again, along with some of these others we haven't seen for a while.

Hell, it is even good to have Loki around from time to time:)

Ask a casual what the difference between a Kimura and an Americana is and watch them run.

Haha, not sure if anyone else remembers this, but if Hyper has actually called them by the same name.

T'was a while back, but it was a thread about Gonzaga vs Schaub, Hyped said he thought Gabe would take him down and finsh with a kimura from mount. I asked if he meant americana, and he said that thhey are close enough that they are often called by the same name.

Just funny that you bring this up on a Hyped thread.

Ahh, I miss the good old days of Fannation.

I was going to do another thread of classic quotes recently, but since they axed all the old threads it is nearly impossible.

This is going to sound strange, guys, but even though they are different submissions (not as different as a triangle and an armbar, of course, but still different) I have always called both just "kimura". The BJJ coaches I've had (Brazilians) do the same.

Now... I do think it's simply because the word "kimura" has a very specific meaning in BJJ history, and "americana" brings about, well, notions about the USA :D

February 16, 2012  07:16 AM ET

And just so you guys are sure I'm not dumb, I've been in hundreds of kimuras and americanas (I've also finished guys - and the occasional girl - with hundreds of them), the americana hurts more, but I still call everything "kimura".

It is worthy of note that in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu there are called by the same name, with a reverse in front of what we know as a Kimura.

Ude Garami is the term I think.
