Freddie who was a WR for both the Dolphins 75-77 and 49ers 78-85. He was named All Pro in 1980, he caught 371 passes for 48 TD's and 6 post season TD's, second to Jerry Rice.

Freddie #88 will be remembered more for his humanitarian deeds, but will also hold fond memories of his play as a 49er.

Freddie was a close friend of Eddie DeBartolo for over 35 years. Eddie even drove Freddie to his Chemotherapy in final days in his fight against cancer.

Ronnie Lott: Freddie was a treasure for SF, he was a great humanitarian for the city of Tampa.

For all the hearts he touched and smiles he brought to children with his charity, he will long be remembered by his fellow teammates and fans of the 49er family.

High praise right there. I only saw him in the latter part of his career, but he was a damn good receiver when you consider the rules in place at that time. His career numbers don't really reflect that.
