Waino's rehab has come along seamlessly and he's now the projected starter for the home opener. Unfortunately, Carp is still in limbo and has been sent back to St. Loius for more tests related to neck and shoulder discomfort. Kyle Lohse will get the opening day assignment vs. Miami.
It's not good news on Carp for sure, but I think we'll be okay. Some people will say I'm crazy, but I really look for Westbrook to have a big year. He clearly worked to get in shape in the offseason and has looked great in the spring. Lohse is in a contract year, and that can often mean good things.
Lynn can be nasty, and I'm comfortable with giving him a look while Carp is out. I'm in no hurry to run out and throw money at Oswalt.
In the long run, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Carp takes time, gets the neck issue fixed and comes back later in the year. That way, he doesn't pitch nearly as many innings this year, and his arm is fresh for the playoff run.

I like how u think my man.
I am sure I am not the first person to say this, but Welcome back, Waino! I hadn't had the chance to see him in action yet, but with what I keep hearing, he is doing just fine.
Wainwright being healthy and Lohse pitching like last night all year are going to be key.
Hopefully Friday was just a case of everything that could go wrong went wrong for Waino and its steadier outings from here on out.
I hope you are right, CP. We'll start to find out tomorrow, but my guess is it was just a blip and he'll be okay next time out.

Looking good. Wainwright will get better, Westbrook is steady, Lohse, Garcia looking strong.

If I remember right, Carpenter was a little up and down in 2004 after he had missed an entire year+. By mid-year that year, he was there best pitcher.
I'd say let's see where Adam is after he's made 7-8 starts. I believe he will get better.

Great outing by Waino yesterday. Location was accurate, curveball was a thing of beauty and no gopher balls (impressive feat at MinuteMaid)!

Last night was start #9 for Waino and dare I say I expect more outings like that from him going forward.
