NFL  > General NFL  > Mike Holmgren is 9-23 as a Browns President, Brandon Weeden is his desperation move
April 27, 2012, 12:08 PM
The Brandon Weeden pick tells me that Mr. Holmgren days of sitting around eating Parma pierogies and Lake Erie Walleye as the Browns go down the the tube are over.

Time to put down that Kielbasa sandwich and pay attention to the fact that this team has done nothing in the last two years.

At least that's what the record tells us,9-23, as a Browns fan that's not what I expected from a guy who was supposed to heal all that ails the Browns.

This pick makes sense if you look at the fact that he needs a QB now, he needs someone with some maturity who can step in and at least give them a chance to get lucky and win some games.

He needs to win now, in the eyes of Browns fans the rebuilding story is old, not getting old, is already ancient we have heard that song for too many years.

Mike Holmgren is swinging for the fences with this pick, he understands that if he can't win this season he will have to have his kielbasa and stuffed cabbage shipped to his next job.

Good luck Mr. Holmgren.

Enough said.

How much history did you look at about Weeden?

I will give you a few points for FINALLY writing about something other than your favorite topic.

Thank you...I am a Colt fan and I think he got screwed...he had nothing here ..the receivers he had dropped a million balls..hope he gets a chance with a good team..Not a Weeden fan but it's the best choice they had......

From what I've seen he has a rocket

And with all those drops he still completed 72% of his passes. People make an issue about his age. Well here's a tip - Roger Staubach was 27 when he joined the Cowboys after he completed his service. He had a nice career, ya think? I'm not suggesting that Weeden is Staubach but just because he is older than anyone else drafted he can still succeed.

The only knock against Weeden was his age (28) but he has all the things you look for in a good NFL QB. He has good size, mobility and excellent arm strength. The Browns also drafted the best RB available. I think Holmgren's only mistake was moving up from #4 to #3 and giving up too many draft picks.

Time will tell...but one thing for sure he needs to get thios done...this year...he is out of time...
