Boxing  > General Boxing  > COTTO-"MARY"WEATHER

2 things I learned from watching the fight last night:

1. Cotto isn't busy enough in the ring against opponets like a "Mary"weather. And...
2. "Mary"weather to me really can't FIGHT, at least not in the sense I KNOW boxing.

Cottos' SLOW, and plodding fight plan was never going to get him the win. YOU NEED to score POINTS, and Cotto spent the night walking around looking for "Mary"weather in the corner, or on the ropes.

"Mary"weather fights like he's still in the amateurs, fighting with "white tipped" gloves, looking to score POINTS at will. With that in mind, COTTO NEVER had a chance unless he could have gotten LUCKY with one big punch.

It's a bloody shame there isn't another Roberto Duran around (PAQ-man?) in his prime to wipe that smile off "Mary's" face.

Many a "troll" has attempted to "out me" in my disertation (blog) on the Cotto vs. "Mary"weather fight, but none have a valid point. THE point is, until "Mary" fights "PAQman" his legacy against overall WEAK era fighters will taint his legacy. Just because a fighter is undefeated doesn't mean anything. It's the QUALITY of fights you fought during your ERA that matters/counts.
