"Haley still recalls a series of plays from Ta'amu during his senior year in high school that were stunning.
"The first one he made a stop on the opposite side of the field for no gain," Haley said. "The next play, he sacked the quarterback about 10 yards back, and the third play he ran down their running back 35 yards down the field."

Yeah, Skippy....sure.....'roids.
Ta???amu???s athleticism for such a large man got him noticed nationally during his junior year of college.
Starting all 13 games and more than doubling the previous season???s tackle numbers, he finished with 39 tackles, including five tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks, and tended to play his best against top competition.

To bad bench reps don't translate to football talent. Yes there are many ?????? hanging over Alameda's head, he will need several years to develop.

I wonder if he will test positive for steroids!

As long as he will tests positive for clogging the middle of the line. That's what Nose Tackles are suppose to do in the Steeler defense.
It's ironic that the Steelers ended up drafting Ta'amu's greatest college nemesis, David Decastro, who was almost single-handedly responsible for the only zero-stat game of his career at Washington....a game where Ta'amu took himself out of the game in frustration....what a fantastic situation for the Steelers to have! The ultimate challenge to drive this fiercely proud big man... I want to sit on the hillside in Latrobe this Summer and watch those two go at it in training camp!!!

"He might be the strongest dude on the defense," offensive lineman Trai Essex said. "The man has a mean stiff-arm and gets inside of you. He is an exceptional athlete for his size."
The knock on McLendon hasn't been his strength but his size.
He weighed 280 pounds in his first year with the Steelers. McLendon is still listed on the roster at that weight but now weighs 325 pounds to go with his 6-foot-4 frame.
"He is way too cut up to be a typical nose tackle," Essex said. "There is not too much fat on that guy. This kid is going to be good."

.....And, if our D-line becomes too-much a problem (for other teams), they could always try passing, against us!!!

Looks like a rebuild to me...or the could load the cap gun again, and get owned by the Ravens.
Steelers, second fiddle, kind of has a ring to it, don't it little man.
"It's real cool to be here," said Ta'amu, a native of Samoa. "It feels like I'm already part of this team. The veterans are already helpful. No one is trying to put you on the spot."
