Both Barnett AND Cormier looked like crap...having broken hands will do that....
Overeem was removed from the tourney because he refused to fight on SF's timetable, not for being boring....would have interfered with his cycling schedule....They wanted him to be ready to fight last September and his drugs wouldn't have cycled out until October....

Overeem was pulled to give the UFC another top heavyweight. Dana didn't want him to lose without making some PPV coin on him.
That's the ONLY reason he was removed.

QUOTE(#3):
The only thing that kept him from finishing was probably the broken hand but to say he looked like crap is just idiotic. But that pretty much what I expect form you.
Ouch! :)
QUOTE(#3):
Cormier looked like crap? Did you watch the fight? He dominated Barnett in every facet of the fight. His striking was on point. His hands looked fast, his kicks were landing. His wrestling was outstanding. His high crotch takedown of Barnett was a thing of beauty. His top game was smothering, and his ground and pound was great. He cut Barnett up with elbows bigtime. The only thing that kept him from finishing was probably the broken hand but to say he looked like crap is just idiotic. But that pretty much what I expect form you.
I've seen Cormier be better....I see the difference between when he's healthy and when he's limited by a broken hand...in comparison, he looked like crap when fighting with a broken hand...considering how the fight was going, he should have finished at any of MANY opportunities. If you watched Penn go to decision after failing to capitalize on several obvious chances, in comparison to his peak showings, you'd say his performance looked like crap because you expect more from him...it's no different for Cormier...or any other fighter....

Penn failed to finish on some occasions because he wanted to hurt people and work his fustrations out.

QUOTE(#8):
Agreed. Diego Sanchez is a perfect example.
Against Jens Pulver as well (on their 2nd fight)
QUOTE(#11):
Thought he finished Jens with an RNC? I forget what round though.
He did.
He finished Diego as well though.
He is a master of the methodical finishes. He did this to Diego, KenFlo, and Sherk. Dominate throughout, and eventually the finish will present itself.
QUOTE(#11):

He did, but he could have finished the fight much sooner (in the 1st round), as he had the mount, the back, and clearly wanted to punish Pulver some more instead of going straight away for the submission finish.
