Thoughts?

I guess nobody was taking his retirement seriously.

So Penn doesn't accept a potential fight with Koscheck, but does so with MacDonald?

Well, 3 thoughts:

1) As the top Lightweight ever, I would prefer to see BJ returning as a Lightweight, to take his division back.
His record as a WW isn't nearly as good as his LW curriculum (even though he was the UFC WW champ, but you know what I mean).

2) Rory MacDonald probably isn't Koscheck, but he's no pushover.

3) Which brings us to the always critical issue with BJ: has he been training somewhat? has he been totally inactive? Will he dedicate himself and focus on this?

Penn got ran out of the LW division by a fighter with much less talent but tons of heart. Then that fighter got taken out by a fighter with unlimited athleticism. If BJ came back to lightweight, he'd just be Rich Franklin 2.0, a great fighter without a home; ran outta his division by a dominent champ but too small to be effective at the next weight. I give this to Rory in 3. BTW Penn is a ****. Met him in Hawaii, he's a rock star there but he knows it and is a great fighter but a waste of air as a person.

I would give Penn a chance against anyone, but the key word is chance. When his head ain't there, he's a shell of a fighter that Henderson would eat alive. I got faith in Ben. I think his cardio would be the difference. BJ is a gasser in a weight class famous for NOT tiring. Also, the **** was not god lol.

QUOTE(#7):

HAha, I figured it wasn't. When he trains hard he seems to have good cardio. His fights with Florian and Sanchez are clear examples. But like you said, its all up to him.

I forgot which fight he did the "primetime" show for, but he got mad when it was presented as he is lazy and doesn't like to run or train hard.. but I really think thats how it is. I think he sits in Hilo living it up with all his high school buddies, enjoying the attention he receives. I mean I lived there, I know how easy it is to blow off a workout to go sit on the beach and drink with my friends but he's supposed to be a pro so I can't get a lot of sympathy goin for Baby Jay.
BJ Penn = Billy Madison

Well lets face it. Dude lives In Hilo and has tons of cash. I mean, I wouldn't be one to be up for training either. But, you're right, he is supposed to be a pro fighter and bust his ****. I never understood why he left the Marinovich brothers. When he was with them he was ion beast mode.My only thought is that he doesn't want to put that kind of work in anymore. I'm hoping MacDonald calling him out lights a spark under his ****.

I hope so. I'd like to see him have one more epic fight in his career, where he just dominates. If it comes against Tri-Star, all the better. Speaking of WW, who would you take in the Hendricks-Kampmann fight?

QUOTE(#11):

Honestly, I have to take Hendricks in that fight. Kampmann has the edge in jitz, but I don't know how he gets the fight to the mat. Kampmann also is too hittable for my liking, and Hendricks has some wicked power. Having said the Martin is more technical on the feet, and will have the edge in cardio, so if he can get it to the 3rd round then he can turn it on.Part of my decision comes in whether or not this is a 3 round or 5 round fight. If its 5 rounds I give Martin a better shot. What about you?

I think The Beard has to finish Kampmann because like you said, Kampmann is more polished on the feet and if Hendricks tries to ride a decision, he'll lose. All that being said, Hendricks has proven that it only takes one. If that happens, Kampmann won't have a chance at one of his patented comebacks, he'll be too busy counting the lights over the cage.

I wanna see what guy on fight night? That post is blank on my screen. Did my firewall eat what you sent?

That was my take on it. That's exactly why they can't capture new fans. Flat ridiculous. Bob Arum himself said he was ashamed of his sport last night. I hope MMA never hits that level of ineptitude/corruption. Although the Bisping/Hamill decision was close.
