Ok, this has bothered me for a while now. I've seen people complain about UFC PPV's and non PPV's constantly. I mean, are these people even real MMA fans?

For instance, I saw so many people complain about UFC 147 because there were no meaningful fights. Tell ya what, I watched the card and was entertained. But there were no meaningful fights so people complained.

Now UFC 149 is upon us and guess what? People are complaining. Even though the main event is an interim title fight or if people don't like interim titles, its still a #1 contender match. Meaningful fight.

Lombard-Boetsch. Whats the word on this fight? If Lombard wins he might get a shot at the title. Boetsch, eh maybe. But if not, he moves right at the door step. Another meaningful fight.

I had my brother in law tell me how awful the card is a month ago. I said, "run down the card again. " He said "Faber-Baroa". I said, "awesome fight." He said, "Lombard vs Boetsch co main, who the hell are those guys, what a terrible fight. " I said, " you don't know who Hector Lombard is do you." He says, "um, whatever dude, he's not that good." I say, "how many of his fights have you seen. " response, "none."

So you see these are the people complaining. They don't even know what they're watching. All they know is Anderson Silva, GSP, and Jon Jones aren't on the card so it sucks.

So the main event and co main event are very meaningful and still people moan and complain.

Listen up. I love all MMA. Its obvious may other don't, so stop complaining and don't watch it. I'm sick and tired of the s hit. Go watch roller blading or ducks s hitting in a pond.

Ok, I'm done ranting.

Decent matchmaking going in.

But guys like Kongo, Jordan, Lombard, Boetsch, Faber, Barao and more failed to rise to the occasion and make a statement like they could have. A lot of stalling all around tonight.

in all fareness for what they charge there should be a marquee name on every cardToday Marquee Names = Jones, Spider, Junior, GSPOne of those should be on every card.

You want each of them to fight once a month?

Not even Pride pushed that hard. Unless you want guys like Leben and Bonner to get title shots.

So, there are 4 marquee names in all of MMA?

that dosent equal once a month each... but I see no reason everyone cant fight 5 times a year...

We got 4 main event name according to you.

We got 30-35 events.

That's pretty close.

And If I've gotta fight a top 5 guy everytime going out- I'm taking my time to maximize my chances of winning

you get paid to fight.... these guys waste their best years fighting 3 times a year

Look at how these guys perform without full training camps. To perform at that high level, it takes time to prepare for a fight. I'm not advocating the guys that fight once in 13 months etc. but how often are you wanting them to fight? The sport is experiencing more training injuries than ever and you want them to push harder and fight more? It's the same thing as the NFL pushing for a longer season without expanding rosters; you can only push athletes so hard before they start to break down and deplete the talent pool. I'd rather see a guy fight 2-3 times a year for 5-10 years that see a guy fight every other month for 2 years until his body gives out on him and he has to retire.

i could argue the training injuries are due to not staying in shape.... and the bad fights with short camps are b/c they arent staying in shape

You could make that argument for a lot of guys for sure, but I don't see it for those top 4 guys you mentioned.

C'mon.. really?? You expect these guys to stay in fighting shape 52 weeks a year? That's unrealistic. Every athlete, even those in the big 4, needs downtime to let their body recover before they ramp up for the next season/fight. I'm not advocating ballooning up like Rampage or Anthony Johnson; I'm just saying they need time to recover.

those are way above the others.... excluding the retirees/past primers

Point taken. But when you say that only those 4 are marquee, that only those 4 can/ should headline an event....

Because obviously you have no idea what a training camp means, what a medical suspension means, and so forth.

They're not playing basketball.

I guess we should have 80-game NFL seasons.

He didn't do the math.
